My Safari Search is Stuck on Yahoo

I assume its a result of installing some malicious software. I went through the steps of removing install.mac here. I do not think that is what my issue is. But i cannot figure out how to get rid of yahoo as the search engine. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the message. I didn't mean to criticize all the people who are kind enough to take time out of their day to help others. However, I totally see how you (and anyone else) could perceive it that way. Rather, I was trying to empathize with the frustrated Mac user. I also added my sol'n because I tried some of those listed and nothing helped so, I figured it out myself. I am new to Apple so maybe it goes without saying that one would try the search tab before asking the Apple Community for help. I don't know. Regardless, I apologize for offending you.

All the best,

Susan

I had this same problem and luckily I only had one extension so I knew that was the one causing it. Earlier today though I was looking at a "virus clearing and protecting" software and there was an option (already selected) that said for yahoo to be your default search engine. That's how I realized it was some extension or downloaded software doing this. They sneakily have you agree to it because no one actually reads the fine print, they just click next until the process is over. This solution totally worked for me and I'm so happy because I've been dealing with this for weeks now and it was such a hassle!
