What are real world recommend requirements for logic pro x

Hello,

I am new to this so this is what my MacBook Pro has in it:

Processor Name: Intel Core i5 CPU 4288U Processor Model: HaswellProcessor Speed: 2.6 GHz

Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores: 2

Memory Size: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics Model: Intel Iris 1536 MB

Is this system going to freeze up when recording multiple tracks at once? Is the processor good enough? I am using a Behringer X32 with Logic Pro X, I also have Pro Tools. I like that I can run logic in my mac and not have to use windows & pro tools w/ boot camp. When I say multiple tracks I am considering a full band with drums mic's, keyboard, rhythm guitar, bass... you know standard base tracks first. I have the money to upgrade to a better setup if need be and I am willing if that is necessary. I have not had the chance to use this MacBook Pro with Logic Pro X to record a session yet. Any thoughts??

Oh! this system maybe gifted to me, so I wanted to know before excepting it.

Thanks in advance.

Art of Sound,

Thank you for your comments and the info you shared. I guess I am going to lean toward the Mac Pro, and just run Mavericks and not Yosemite for a while. I admit that the iMac 5k is tempting because I would not have to buy a monitor to go with the Mac Pro. I hate having to decide which one..LOL Well I feel you folks have been very helpful and I really appreciate it. Thank you I will have to come back and update you all and let you know which I choose. I think however it will be the Mac Pro and see if I can afford to upgrade the cores to more than a quad core.

Thanks again!!

One additional point to make.. Any new Mac Pro's seem to come with Yosemite pre-installed....

However, I believe if you purchase from a physical store, Apple will install Mavericks for you on a new machine.... upon request.

They will not do so I gather, if you purchase online.

As an aside, I understand your feelings about the iMac... As it happens I have a 2011 i7 iMac that is still my main working rig but then Im running LP9.1.5 and 10.6.8 on it for as long as i can because that combo has proven to be the most stable and efficient one so far... but I bought it because I loved the 27" screen.... and it saved me a bunch of money at the time not having to buy a separate monitor along with a Mac Pro... so i get that 🙂

Eventually I'll have to buy a new Mac and when that day comes it will be a Mac Pro..based on the experiences I had with the borrowed one... unless the issues with the Retina based Macs are fully resolved... then a new iMac would be very tempting i will admit...

Anyhow, glad to help..... and please let us know how things go for you in the end...

Cheers..

Nigel

I will for sure come back and let you know, I think I can get the new mac around this Feb. or March with my tax return (fingers crossed) 🙂 Anyway I have every version of OS X since Lion in my cloud and I made two bootable USB drives, one with Mavericks and one with Yosemite, so if I get the Mac Pro or iMac I can install that way. I really want the Mac Pro but I just don't my wife going along with a monitor also. She is going to be upset at 4800+ dollars on the Mac Pro 😟 but she has agreed to the purchase because I am in year two of putting together a recording studio and I need the computer for the studio. Well Nigel thank you again for your help, I do really appreciate it, I needed someone to talk to and have a sounding board on the issue. If you get a chance go to www.soldierassist.com and up on the top menu bar click on "studio" there is a short video (i think it is still there) on the studio. The equipment list is shorter than I actually have but I would update it till I get the new bundle of equipment I am waiting on delivery for. I don't have the new mic's listed, the ones in the vid are from my use while I was doing podcasting. In addition if you click on the adopt page you can email me using the adopt a soldier link. You don't have to adopt a soldier. lol.

Thanks again.

Blaine
