Seriously? You read nothing from the thread you posted in?
You cannot update an iPhone 4 beyond iOS 7.1.2
You cannot update to iOS 8
You cannot update to iOS 9
You cannot update to iOS 10
You cannot update to iOS 11
You cannot update to any iOS version after 7.1.2
Hopefully, that should clear up some things
Do you have a technical question?
What about iOS 8.0?
how to download app in iphone 4 ios 7.2
How can i update my software to iOS 8

IS THIS A JOKE? That question has been answered dozens of times in this thread. Just read.
You can only download apps that will work in 7.1.2. It is up to the app developer whether they will support older versions or not.
There's a point at which this starts to look like trolling.....
I think we passed that point about 2 years ago...
What is going to take to make these iPhone 4 owner realize that their iPhone is obsolete and doesn't have the necessary hardware to run the new versions of iOS?
They certainly fail to read what is posted in this thread where we have told them that.
iOS 8
At what point in time are people going to read this thread and realize that you cannot update an iPhone 4 to anything above iOS 7.1.2? It cannot be done, period.
Probably never. They can't seem to believe that their obsolete iPhone 4 are too weak to run anything newer then 7.1.2.
Besides that I have my doubts that they even bother to read this thread.

Nope, they don't. I blame the new layout, in part, at least. They see one or two answers, the helpful, solved or recommended ones, which may not even be right, they click on the reply button at the bottom of the page, never really noticing that there are more pages. Seeing the same behavior in a thread on not being able to make purchases from the iTunes Store and a couple of others. But, the new layout is only part of the problem. People are just not paying attention tot he fact that this is a user-to-user forum. They seem to be treating it as chat. It's very frustrating.
Yes, this does highlight a number of drawbacks with the format, but it also highlights users laziness. They find a subject and just post to it, expecting some sort of miracle, when even a cursory look over the content of the thread would answer their question. This one has been answered so many times it is pitiful. I wish they would lock some of these threads to prevent people from resurrecting them. I understand archiving them for users to find information about a similar behavior, but when people post things like the couple above ours, i.e. G, or iOS 8, they will continue to thrive, albeit unnecessarily.

I thought about that idea after answering for about the twentieth time, the question of what to do if you got an error message saying contact iTunes Support when trying to purchase something. However, another one would just pop up.
