How do I create a "pivot table" in numbers 3.5?

If I have understood correctly, you are looking for Categories. Sadly, they have gone in Numbers 3.

Numbers '09 allows this:

In Numbers 3, here is a data table:

Create your own subtotals in Footer Rows (or in another table)

Formula in Footer Cell B6 (and Fill Down to Footer Cell B7)

=SUMIF(A,A6,B)

Or use a Filter to show only rows that match a condition:

Thanks for your reply. Seriously, Numbers 3.5 is not so different from Numbers '09. But often we need to "take a walk around the new neighbourhood" to see where the old features have been moved (not always removed 🙂). Where have they hidden that in this update? What do I need to do to adapt to this 'new look' Numbers?

Question - Is there an easy way to create a summary/filterable sheet from the data that I have?

Hi Jim,

I can't see an easy way of creating a "Pivot Table" in Numbers 3 unless it involves some SUMIF or SUMIFS functions in formulas.

The only way I can see is to revert your Numbers 3 document to Numbers '09 and use the Numbers '09 Categories feature.

In Numbers 3, Menu > File > Export To > Numbers '09...

Here's hoping that you have Numbers '09 on your machine 🙂.
