Safari 8.0.2 will not install

Running Yosemite 10.10.1. The Safari 8.0.2 will not install. Says it has installed several times in the App Store but is also still available for download. Have checked Safari itself and the version is still 8.0.

I didn't use the Yosemite Beta before.

Did anybody manage to update to Safari 8.0.2?

I'd rather like to use an official download than one of the shady .pkg from the sources mentioned above.

FYI - I tried the following steps to fix that problem (still without success):

- tried another user account

- tried in safe mode

- disabled all firewalls

- fixed permissions

- reinstalled OS X 10.10.1 through internet recovery mode

The next steps recommended by Apple support are:

- deleting the whole hard drive + make a clean install of OS X 10.10.1

- trying another internet provider

Did anybody try these 2 suggestions, yet?

I was eventually able to fix most of my problems installing OS X 10.10.1 and it was related to another problem I was having with the Apple Store Updates. With a little help from a friend here I went into terminal and manually rest the Apple Store Updates program and cleared out cookies and cache and when I went back to Apple Updates all the issues with software not downloading and installing properly were gone. Now when I go to Apple Updates they install properly, and show up in the "Installed in the last 30 Days" list and disappear from the "Updates to install" list.

Well, the ISP was just a try after a lot of other things.

I don't see any file permission problems because the download starts.

It's only very slow and it stops after a couple of minutes and bytes.

The download bar switches back to the Update button and another entry is added to the "Last 30 days updates" section...

However, reinstalling OS X on a clean wiped disk was also another suggestion from Apple support and - according to the link mentioned above - it might be the solution.

I will wait for 10.10.2 first, but don't have a lot of hope since the amount of affected users is quite small.
