Safari 8.0.2 will not install
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
Hi Hoofbeat
I Googled it and got mine here http://download.cnet.com/Apple-Safari/3000-2356_4-34119.html (or here http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/15675/apple-safari).
RAW update here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1780
Security update is here OS X NTP Security Update:OS X Yosemite
Thank goodness that I am not the only one with the same issues with updating Apple software. Most non-Apple software seems to install except RAW and HP printer that I had to do manually like mentioned here. Did any of you use the Yoesemite Beta software before updating to 10.10 when it became available or experience a crash when installing 10.10
I didn't use the Yosemite Beta before.
Did anybody manage to update to Safari 8.0.2?
I'd rather like to use an official download than one of the shady .pkg from the sources mentioned above.
FYI - I tried the following steps to fix that problem (still without success):
- tried another user account
- tried in safe mode
- disabled all firewalls
- fixed permissions
- reinstalled OS X 10.10.1 through internet recovery mode
The next steps recommended by Apple support are:
- deleting the whole hard drive + make a clean install of OS X 10.10.1
- trying another internet provider
Did anybody try these 2 suggestions, yet?
I had this problem and I don't know whether it was coincidence or not, but after logging out of the App Store and back in again it worked.
Manually installing the programs outside of the App Store worked for me. I used hareand's above-posted links without problem.
I was eventually able to fix most of my problems installing OS X 10.10.1 and it was related to another problem I was having with the Apple Store Updates. With a little help from a friend here I went into terminal and manually rest the Apple Store Updates program and cleared out cookies and cache and when I went back to Apple Updates all the issues with software not downloading and installing properly were gone. Now when I go to Apple Updates they install properly, and show up in the "Installed in the last 30 Days" list and disappear from the "Updates to install" list.
Can you post details of what you entered in Terminal to delete the relevant cache/reset the program? Thanks.
Enter in Terminal
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
to activate the Debug Mode
To deactivate enter
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool false
Unfortunately the reset and clear over the debug mode did not solve the issue for me. 😐
Thanks for the commands. But it didn't help me either.
Did somebody try another internet connection / ISP, yet?
Thanks for the explanation and showing how to activate that menu. Who knew?! Once the Debug menu in AppStore was activated, I cleared the cache and reset the application. Neither worked for me. I take it that none of the other commands available in that menu would be useful. Thanks again.
I'm no expert, but I can't imagine that the ISP would have anything to do with this issue.
I also did not understand the ISP hint.
We all have different ISPs. Or are you fro Germany and use htp?
Nevertheless I switched to my mobile iPhone Hotspot and no change. Issue still there.
And we are not the only one... same topic here Re: Can't install update 10.10.1
Well, the ISP was just a try after a lot of other things.
I don't see any file permission problems because the download starts.
It's only very slow and it stops after a couple of minutes and bytes.
The download bar switches back to the Update button and another entry is added to the "Last 30 days updates" section...
However, reinstalling OS X on a clean wiped disk was also another suggestion from Apple support and - according to the link mentioned above - it might be the solution.
I will wait for 10.10.2 first, but don't have a lot of hope since the amount of affected users is quite small.
