Safari 8.0.2 will not install

Running Yosemite 10.10.1. The Safari 8.0.2 will not install. Says it has installed several times in the App Store but is also still available for download. Have checked Safari itself and the version is still 8.0.

Don't do anything extreme, its not so much your computer as Apple Store needs to be reset in terminal, I had the same issues until I got instructions on a forum here on what to reset and I'm clear sailing now on my mid-2011 iMac. If you search the help forums you can find the nice gentleman who helped my problem by pointing me to a post he had already made on the forums. Wished Id kept the info but thought I wouldn't need it anymore.

It seems not to be a general AppStore issue.

iWork's updates today installed without any problem.

My NTP Issue is also solved, by manuell installation. OS X NTP Security Update:OS X Yosemite

Funny, if I switch from english to german, the update is for Mav and not Yose anymore...

My RAW Update issue is fixed by this download Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 6.02

But Safari 8.0.2 still missing to be downloaded...

Today's iWork updates worked perfectly. Safari 8.0.2 pretended to update, but did not (for the umpteenth time).

Last weekend I spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple Support. Very helpful efforts, but still no success. Tried:

  • Restarting after clearing system management controller (?) (SMC)
  • Restarting after clearing PRAM
  • Enabling the creation of a "root user," then from that account deleting Safari (can't be done with ordinary administrator account), then reinstalling OS.

Personally I think the bug is in the App Store application, not Safari. Perhaps I can delete that from the root user account and reinstall the OS. When I have nothing else to do.

Yes, iWork updates worked perfectly. NTP, RAW and Safari updates don't.

I did also install NTP and RAW updates manually after downloading them from the official Apple links.

However, I don't want to install Safari unless it's provided from an official Apple download link as well.

Some users got the Safari update from MacUpdate or alike.

But I don't trust these .pkg files; not sure what else is included, MacKeeper or some annoying adware.

What's interesting: there seems to be a difference between Safari/NTP/RAW and the iWork updates.

In German, the button for the iWork apps said "Aktualisieren" while the button for the non-working apps says "Update".

These are 2 different words from the same thing -> updating.

But it shows that Apple treats the apps differently and I assume the problems are related to that one specific kind of updates.

Does anybody know where the new Apple Remote Desktop 3.8 can be downloaded from, beyond the App Store? Downloading and installing the updates has been working for me. I just did the 10.10.2 and iTunes updates, as both were available for individual download on apples support page. ARD is not available.

Anyone have an idea where else it can be downloaded from? CNET or something?

Thx
