How do I stop pocket dialing from my iPhone 6plus?

I have a brand new (just bought it last night!) iPhone 6plus. I put it in my bag before I left my house this morning and it evidently called a friend of mine 6 times as I was driving! Glad she's an early riser, but it's still not a good thing. How do I make sure this doesn't continue to happen? I have a password set on my phone so I have no idea how it got beyond that.

My wife's phone has been doing this for some time now. Need to take it in. Had fingerprint lock setup since day 1 (last fall), option to respond to texts while locked is turned off, and has a very complex password set up, yet it dials, texts, and starts FaceTime calls while in her purse or pocket. We've even pulled out the phone with it locked to find it had started a gibberish text to one of her contacts. Since the phone is locked when put down, I know this is impossible. Yet I've witnessed it first hand. They must have some software flaws in them (daughter has had it happen on her 6 too). But my wife's phone is doing this multiple times a week.

I had the same problem. I turned off all the voice controls and it seemed to solve the problem. It was calling random people on my contact list and they weren't even on my recently called or favorite. It would call people I hadn't talked to in several years -- nor have I called them. They were just on my contact list transferred from my old phone. So, it couldn't have been an accidental brushing of the phone. It was accessing things that weren't on the screen.

At one point, I had my phone locked on zoom mode and couldn't figure out how to undo it. I asked it to reboot (using voice command) and it started to call a random person on my contact list. After that, I turned off all the voice controls and now it hasn't pocked dialed since.

Hi,

I have the same issue.

See my observations and reflections:

Phone orientation / Dialed person position in phone book:

I have tried to watch when the phone is manually locked before entering in my pocket. I also observed that the phone is pointing outwards or inwards to the body when it is in my pocket. Interestingly enough, my phone continued to dial random people.

No matter whether I have heard them recently or long ago and no matter whether they are at the beginning, middle or end of my phone book.

Siri:

Assuming that Siri dialing someone - I have no explanation how this happens when I driving alone in my car and not talk to anyone (and I do not listen to the radio).

Buttons interaction:

Home button is flat. Theoretically it should not be able to press in your pocket or backpack unless something touches it. Only remains to look at relief buttons for volume and on/off. If there is some combination of pressing which causes the dialing I would accept that as an option.

I wonder if I have a hardware problem why it does not occur when the phone is left on the table?

Аfter all above, the only thing that comes to my mind is:

I guess It can be temperature / humidity or just mechanical issue (when my phone is bended in my pocket).

Hello.

I Have a similar issue. I had an iPhone 4 for 4 years. Whenever I would have my dog on my lap, her paws would sometimes hold my home button down and would activate voice control, and it would call a seemingly random person from my contacts.

I Just bought an iphone 6s a month ago and I'm still experiencing the same problem.

s was standing on my phone my pocket, and activated voice control. When I felt the vibration I pulled my phone out to find that it randomly called someone that started with an that I don't ever call. im not around anyone else, and I'm not talking and somehow it comes up with this.

HOw do I get it to stop calling people from my pocket.

THanks in advance.

I Have a life proof case on it.

I Have Siri shut off since I bought the phone.

THis is is a different thing called voice control.

I Can't stand siri so I shut it off when I bought it. Phone was locked in my pocket

i have Touch ID enabled and always lock the screen. And I have a passcode. But somehow my dog can break the encryption on the Touch ID.

I had the problem of "pocket-dialing" and it was driving me nuts. My phone even dialed someone who had passed away (I had not removed her contact info) and I got her voice mail.

I finally solved it (I hope) by turning Voice Dial off. For my iPhone 6 with iOS 9.3.2 this is in Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > enter your passcode > Voice Dial

So as I understand it if Voice Dial is on here then even if your phone is locked you can initiate Voice Dial. Yeow! So I guess I was really pressing the Home key with my thigh to initiate voice dialing and then it was trying to interpret my voice as a phone number to try or, more likely, as "Call Mary"?

It says that "Music Voice Control is always enabled." So I can't get rid of the music playing from my pocket at random times, as happened today.
