iPod 7 not visible in iTunes 12.0.1.26 (Yosemite)

I have the same issue with mine. The only difference is my iPod never shows up in devices. I have tried resetting and restarting everything, changing USB cables (all Apple brand) and changing USB slots. iTunes opens when I connect the iPod, and shows in Finder. I last synced my iPod on November 23, 2014.

2 mines too... tried to restore in dfu but is the same... GRRRR!!!

Let me get on line as well...Just got an iPod Nano 7th Gen this morning. Nothing happens or shows up AT ALL when plugged in. Tried any and ALL to fix, resets, different USB ports, etc.. Yosemite problem? Merry.........Christmas....

I have exactly the same problem with Nano 5th. gen and with my very nice Nano 1st. as well.

It's like it isn't even plugged in, does not show in app utility folder as being on a USB. My old iPod Classic works fine though, shows up on iTunes, etc.

Same problem. Got my nano today, plugged it in, iTunes detects it but cannot "properly identify" it. No fixes work. Older iPod is already traded in. Merry Christmas.

I found a fix that worked!

I manually uninstalled iTunes, Bonjour, and all Apple programs, and my iTunes library for good measure (I had a backup).

Restarted computer, downloaded iTunes, plugged i device, and it finally recognized it!

Then I restored the backup library.

Apparently the iTunes installer won't properly remove all the files before reinstalling. I hope this works for someone else.

I have this same problem with my 6th gen iPod nano. Called the apple support and they told that the iPod is bad, which wasn't true because you could see this iPod in iTunes when i plug this in my windows laptop, but not in macbook. I have a new macbook pro retina with yosemite and iTunes 12. SMH

How exactly do you delete iTunes? My computer keeps telling me that it is a mandatory program and it cannot be deleted. I would really love to have some new tunes for my 16 mile run tomorrow.

I found solution. I was using latest beta of OS X. When I switch off from beta and I install latest but official OS X all is working well. My two iPods can be connected and synced again.

Downgrading to 10.10.1 fixed the issue for me. Unfortunately, 10.10.2 also broke email search as well, which wasn't fixed by downgrading to 10.10.1.
