iTunes stuck at iTune U

When I click the iTunes store app button, all I see is a page that shows itunes U icon and asks me to open the iTunes U App only. It doesnt have anything else.

Please help. I thought i could explore and purchase music through my iTunes.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.2

This is how it worked for me
On your device, tap Settings > [your name] > iTunes & App Store.
Tap your Apple ID. If you're not signed in, sign in with the Apple ID and password that you use with the iTunes Store.
Tap View Apple ID.
If prompted, enter your password again.
Tap Country/Region. Learn what to do if you can't change your country or region.
Tap Change Country or Region.
Tap your new country or region, i chooed United Kingdom then tap Next.
Review the Terms and Conditions and Apple Privacy Policy, then tap Agree if you agree.
In the prompt that appears, tap Agree.
Select a payment method and enter your payment information. Learn more about how to change or remove your Apple ID payment information. I didn't entered it.you can skip the other two steps.
