I have no idea what you tried to do and what you cloned (system? data? a drive with both?)
you want to separate data and system onto different drives.
you wanted ? to combine two drives as an array (can't install to an array and would not help or be needed) for your projects.
Ideal boot drive is an SSD but we aren't there yet.
Most people use Option to temporarily boot from the "new" clone and test it out to insure it works before going into System Prefs : Startup Disk control panel and then making the new drive the default.
Then pull the old drive, that will be your safety net and backup.
Only do one thing at a time, have backup, move to the next change. Don't worry about Lion until you have whatever else working first.
