Is there any interface that will allow 5.1 output from Logic Pro via an optical/coaxial cable for mixing purposes?
I’m curious if there is an interface that will allow mixable 5.1 output from Logic Pro via an optical/coaxial cable to a surround receiver to be able to mix in 5.1 surround? I've tried just using an optical cable out from the macbook headphone jack, and while that does allow audio output, as soon as you attempt to adjust any surround panning beyond simple L/R you lose the audio. So that means it's only outputting strictly in Left or Right. Aside from using an interface with separate analog outputs physically connected to each speaker individually, is there no way to simply incorporate a digital surround receiver and utilize one digital connection to send this information out while mixing and retaining full 5.1 panning control?
