It's has passed almost a Year after this post... but now I'm having the same problem just after installing El Capitan 10.11.
It seems that ASUS doesn't have the updates for this driver. I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2009) which unfortunately had problems white the original wi-fi antenna and I bought this USB-N13 from Asus and it was working very good.
- The Asus Network Utility doesn't work at all. When I click on it, it blinks on the dock and disappear.

- I can't manage to control the dongle without the Asus Network Utility. It seems impossible to activate it or "turn it on".k

Do you think is there any workaround on that?

I listed my ideas for investigating this issue in the post you replied to, if you have tried those & nothing is helping I think you need to find a better wifi dongle that works with OS X.

If it worked in an earlier OS I can't see the point in updating to one that leaves you without wifi (I'm assuming you depend on having it work), do you have a backup to undo the upgrade? Ask if you need help with that.

Does Console log anything in 'All Messages' when it fails to open? /Applications/Utilities/Console.app

Have you contacted ASUS? Their support may tell you if they plan on making their software work on El Captain. I don't have much faith since jonathonp had issues on 10.7 which was out of date when he posted here.

Take a look at The hatters links, perhaps you can find one that works on 10.11 but since this OS is quite new you may find hardware vendors are lagging behind with compatibility, sometimes it's better to wait to update.
