SONICable claims it can charge in 50% of time?

SONICable says it charges any device in just half the time of a regular USB cable. It is currently funded on Indiegogo: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/sonicable-the-world-s-most-advanced-charging- cable

I remember a long discussion here last year where it was determined that iPhone draws power as it needs, and the choice of cable or power supply doesn't matter (can't seem to find that thread right now). Is SONICable making some incredulous claims?

Can someone with the expertise give their 2c on this topic? Thanks in advance.

Dear All,

The SONICable is not living up to its claims. I charge, iPhone 5, iPad 4, iPhone 5S. I cannot see any marked difference. One issue I do have for the iPhone 5 is the connector to the phone does not always make contact. By removing and applying a a little more pressure seems to get the connector into position, that is more disturbing, suggesting that the connector may be slightly out of spec.

12v iPad Chargers came as an accessory supplied by Apple. No instructions to say don't put it in a iPhone. This charger breaks all records in fast charge of your devices. For the iPad if you don't have one will change time to charge to an acceptable level, anything less is slow.

In a twist, I have an after market Cigarette light charger in my car with a worn out Apple cable in it. I purchased this device 2 years ago as a fast charger for in car. $13.00aud. It works today and faster than any other device I use, from 240v or not. Beats the SONICable. Sorry to the guys at SONICable, not trying to be critical but factual, have another look at your design for Model 2. M

No they did not, they are both 5v chargers, a 5watt version for the phone and a 12watt version for the iPad
