Bending of the iPhone 6?

I'm planning to purchase a iPhone 6 with AppleCare+, however from what I've seen on social media it seems like the iPhone 6 bends.

I don't wear skinny jeans, nor abuse my phones, I use it like a regular phone, I'm just afraid that the phone will bend even with a case

Would Apple replace it free?

iPhone 6, iOS 8

No, I doubt there is much of logic you have ever understood.

I'm not sticking my head in the sand. I am saying that if you take a LARGER phone, made of aluminum, and put pressure on it then it will bend. No way to avoid that fact. Not blaming anyone. Aluminum bends. The iPhone 5 bends (you can search here and find many posts, including pictures, of bent iPhone 5s). The iPhone 4 and 3 would break. The original iPhone bent (it was aluminum).

Get an Apple Watch. It will be much harder to bend.

Like I saw on a T-Shirt recently, "I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you."

I have nothing to own up to. Like I have said, it has been in an otterbox case since day 1. Only when I took it off this weekend did I notice it.

I have a better question, why are there so many defenders on this board? For consumers to find out about issues with their phones. Are you all apple employees, out here to defend any complaints. Seems like that's all there is out here. No real help. only posers , who want to pass the blame onto consumers. until they stop asking questions or posting. Why do you care about my phone. you clearly do not have an issue , so just move along.

They shouldn't , and like I've said, its a slight bend and ill live with it. But you really think , they designed it to bend? Its clearly and engineering defect. Why cant you admit it?

I use apple all the time, I but their products, will not change. Will get the next iPhone avail in 2 years. Apple make great products, but in this 1 case a mistake was made. Just own up to it.

Admit what? I'm just a fellow user like like yourself who has never had a phone bend with normal use. Is it as strong as some previous iPhone models? Apparently not as shown by Consumer Reports but it's not a poorly made phone with inherent defects. If it's an engineering defect then back up your claim and prove it. I'll wait for you to publish your findings.

Your logic, or lack thereof, defies me.

Yes, aluminum bends. So according to you all currently sold smartphones are defective and need to be recalled. The iPhone 5 and 5s should have been recalled. the original iPhone should have been recalled. Aluminum is lighter than steel and far less expensive than titanium. All phone manufacturers could make their phones with Titanium to avoid (avoid, it will still bend but at higher pressures) bending if you would be willing to pay about $2,000 for a smartphone.

Nobody has claimed that any aluminum smartphone can bend with the right amount of pressure. No manufacturer is claiming it cannot be bent.

In your case you should be looking at how did that much pressure get applied to your phone to slightly bend it while it was in an Otterbox. This would be a good question for the manufacturer of your case although it is possible you bent it placing it in the case.

All any of use have said here is it requires a certain amount of pressure to bend the phone. For 99.9% of users they haven't placed that much pressure on it.

It's called logic and physics. Aluminum does not bend without some form of external force applied. It's an extrapolation from Newton's Laws, if you want to get basic.

Your device has damage. How it occurred isn't really relevant, because the warranty doesn't cover damage.

That's very simple. I hope you understand.

And if you'd read the Terms of Use of this forum, you'd know we are all just users like ourselves. Perhaps reading comprehension should be applied to both the Terms of Use of this forum and the iPhone warranty?

I have just noticed my iPhone 6 slightly bent near the volume buttons. As others here, I have had it in a case at all times and carried it in the front pocket when walking and always put it out when sitting anywhere. After only 2 months of usage. Seeing the amount of people having the same problem and on the other hand my GF, who has an M8, no case and has it in skinny jeans like always has no problem whatsoever.

About the consumer reports, I do not know who designed those tests but the iPhone has not been tested against bending, it does have a serious weak structural point around the volume buttons. The so called 'tests' with weigh pushing down the centre do not address that weak point. I bought mine 2 months ago, so clearly it is not just the early editions, it is all of them that are prone to bending during light force. It's a mobile phone, people have been using it the same way for years, it astounds me they have not had it tested before sent into final production. This along with the charger cable that comes with it (prone to breaking has convinced me to rather buy something else next time. For such an expensive product a much stronger aluminium should be used, looks like they were using standard not tempered 6061.

JJust left Apple Store. Got my IPone 6S Plus in February. 5 minutes after getting my phone Otterbox Deffender case was put on And NEVER taken off! Started having issues so I took it in... At the Apple Store we took the phone out of the case and it is BENT! Apple said sorry, can do nothing for you. I am mad as heck! Thinking about never buying Apple product again! I don't wear my phone in my pocket, it's mostly in my hand or backpack. So Otterbox combined with Apple *****!

Exact same thing happened to me. Put it in a Defender, took it out to clean a few months later. Phone is pristine, never dropped it or anything, but when I set it on the table I noticed it wasn't level. It was bent. Now I can do morsecode by tapping the bottom left corner that doesn't sit flush on flat surfaces. So ******. Phone works fine but ****. Defender was the most heavy duty case you could buy at the time. The screen is just too long and thin, I read that the 6 plus slowly bends over time. I don't wear tight clothes, in good shape. I do ride a bike that causes my legs to be bent a lil higher than a typical seated position. The weakness is the touchscreen which is the thinnest party of any case (thin strip of plastic so touch will read).
