kernel_task panics under Yosemite

I've been running Yosemite on my pretty vanilla Mini with no issues. Recently upgraded my MacBook Air to Yosemite, and it's unstable. Frequent, unpredictable kernel panics. I have removed most of my potentially-suspicious startup items (Boingo, TeamViewer), but still experience occasional, random restarts. Any insights would be deeply appreciated.

Here's a recent and representative panic report (also happened earlier today, with similar panic report):

Eric--

Thanks for that! I've registered and submitted a bug report (20281559). I included a link to this discussion. I'll let y'all know what I hear back.

FWIW, I can pretty much suppress the behavior by avoiding any printing/scanning, so circumstantial evidence in my case points toward that part of the world. That seems to align with some others have reported or seen elsewhere. I've removed and re-installed the Brother software for the all-in-one devices that I'm using, to no avail. Hoping for something reasonably actionable from Apple.

I submitted a report via the Apple Feedback page, but the BugReporter sounds like a better route. I've also been submitting every panic report, but they'e anonymous so of course they don't generate any specific feedback.

I haven't connected any panics with printing, and I seldom do any scanning. Image Capture is steady at 2.14 GB of VM, but I'll keep an eye on it. It's possible there are a number of applications or extensions that can trigger the problem, but it still suggests that there is a bounds-checking issue in the kernel - rogue apps and extensions should not cause an OS crash, they should be handled/terminated.

I have the same problem. I think it is related to the Logitech Mouse like stated in http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1722832 (because it only happened to me when the logitech receiver is plugged in and I wake it up from screensaver/blank screen) but still should be fixed in Yosemite.

Related Apple Bugreports I submitted: 19015222 closed as duplicate to 15771331 (not mine), 20585063 (created new report because the problem persists for > 6 months now and is not fixed in 10.10.3).

Apr 21, 2015 6:36 PM in response to drengfer

So, Apple responded by informing me that my bug (20281559) is a duplicate of another (19392090). That other bug still shows as "open" in the Bug Reporter view of my (now closed) bug.

I will say, though, that since installing 10.10.3, my machine has been more stable. (Regrettably, and in an unrelated matter, my wife's MBP [Mavericks] has had some kernel panics of late; I've been holding off upgrading her to Yosemite due to my panic issues - maybe that's now moot and I should bite the bullet on her behalf.)

Apr 22, 2015 1:20 AM in response to drengfer

So there seem to be multiple bug reports regarding this issue, but I still think ours are the same but not yet marked as duplicate.

Turning off the wireless logitech mouse before waking from sleep seems to help, no kernel panic since *fingers crossed*. However, Apple should continue to make Yosemite more stable (and fix this ****** bug) instead of introducing new features. And produce a mouse that is ergonomic, because the Magic Mouse hurts my hands after long use.

i'm having the same issue also but it only seems to occur when I have an external monitor plugged in and a wireless mouse with a USB dongle.
