Battery replacement?
Hello,
I need to get a replacement battery for my iphone 5. Is there any specific brand I should get? What's the best one?
Thanks!

Oh, so now Apple makes batteries. Go to Amazon and look at replacement batteries for Iphones. And then look at the hundreds of reviews that show that most replacement batteries work fine. Again, utter nonsense, and more of the fan boy mentality.
No, Apple does not make batteries for iPhones intended for sale to the public. They are internal service parts only. I don't care what you found on Amazon. NONE of them are officially from Apple. They are unauthorized reproductions.
I never said using a unauthorized battery would automatically cause problems. What I SAID is that they are not legitimate parts, because Apple does not supply them. And that unauthorized service on a device voids your support from Apple. And just because your warranty has expired, that doesn't end your support from Apple. You STILL have other options. I had my iPhone 5 battery replaced by Apple, even though I was outside of warranty. [https://www.apple.com/support/iphone5-battery/]
But if I had allowed unauthorized service to be done previously, then Apple would NOT have provided support.
Your warranty expiring simply means your FREE support is ended. Apple still offers options after that. But if you perform unauthorized service, then that is voided.
No one said that the unauthorized batteries wouldn't work. What we said is that using such a service voids your Apple support, permanently.
If you replace your iPhone 5 battery on your own today, and tomorrow Apple says that they are replacing all iPhone 5 devices with a free upgrade to an iPhone 6... you don't get to do that.
Or, wait... there's also the free iPhone 5 Battery Replacement program if your device qualifies. Oops, even though your device was in the affected range of serial numbers that qualified for free service, you don't get that anymore, nor do you qualify for the free out-of-warranty Sleep/Wake button replacement program. Too bad.

By the time most people have to replace their batteries, the warranties are up, and one done by a reliable technician, at a reliable outlet, there is nothing whatsoever to fear. Again, go over to Amazon and check out the hundreds of people who have successfully switched batteries and tell me they are making it up.
Other than voiding all future support from Apple for that device, including the out-of-warranty options... sure.
An expired warranty doesn't remove your service options. It simply means they aren't automatically free anymore. However, Apple does actually occasionally offer service extensions for free [https://www.apple.com/support/exchange_repair/] like the iPhone 5 Battery Replacement or iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake Button Replacement.
But if there is unauthorized service done on a device, those options are voided.
How much did that iPhone battery cost you, pal? $40 or so? That's about what an actual, quality reproduction oddly cost.
So, since Apple does all battery replacements (all the way up to an iPhone 6 Plus) for $79, and the service is guaranteed, I"m not sure I'd be trying to save $39 or so on my $949 iPhone 6 Plus, at the risk of voiding my warranty. Heck, I wouldn't take that option on my iPhone 4S.
Point of fact: Using any service or parts other than those provided by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider voids ALL support (not just warranty related) from Apple, permanently. If you chose to do so, fine. But no one here said another battery wouldn't work.
Reading comprehension for the win, kid.
One question:
1) how does Apple knows that you have done some change in your phone?
for example: could I change my bad original battery for another one and return to the bad original prior going to an Apple suportt visit?
I read your retort with whoever that apple person was and I commend you. That person was rude and you are very right. Way to standup against that fanboy nonsense.
Thanks! Must keep the FBs grounded

How did u know u had to replace the battery?
The best thing YOU can do is take it to Apple and have them run a diagnostic.
