Very slow Undo/Redo Process !

Hi,

Upgraded to Logic 10.1 yesterday, on a Brand new Mac Pro ( 2015 ), 32GB Memory, 1 TB SSD,

Everything seems to be running smoothly, EXCEPT ...!!! ( Capital Letters )

It's taking 15 seconds MINIMUM to Undo or Redo, Sometimes even a little longer !!

What? Even simple MIDI operations, like delete One Midi note, to undo the process ( Commandl-Z ) it takes 15-16 seconds.

On my Old macPro ( early 2008 ), I also did the update to LPX 10.1 and it is working fine, I am getting immediate Undo/Redo.

I already tried all basic troubleshooting, anyone getting this bug? Any solutions?

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), 3.5 GHZ 6-Core Intel, 32 GB,1TB SSD

Yes indeed, thats why im gonna get this crap out of my studio..

Have been wasting to much time with it, i own this since it came out.. doesn't mather with daw or OS u use, it is always crap and causes always big problems...

but some how i had it working nicely with logic pro x.. until this undo problem started to happen.. and thats it for me, i have given up on Automap..

imho,

Anything that 'wraps' plugins..... in order to provide functionality to either some external hardware or to plugins that is not within the plugin's actual specs and design, is likely to (and often does...) cause issues every time either OS X and/or Logic Pro is updated...

This includes hardware support mods like Automap and it's ilk....

...or even something much simpler like 32Lives which provides a means of running 32bit Mac AU plugins in LPX which only supports 64bit AU plugins.

Note: VEP is the only reliable method of achieving this (as well as other very useful functionality..) as it doesn't require or make any alterations to the plugins . but is substantially more expensive...

Opinion Summary : I have never found any such 'wrapping' methods reliable over time... and so I avoid them at all costs....

Totally true..

I know this, and it indeed has always been like this.. started with i believe Fxpansion VST to RTAS years ago, that was my first "wrap crap" experience ( i guess 10 years ago)

At that time wrap was crap, today it is still crap...

and i can't believe my self for just keeping trying to make it work...

32 lives works for me, i only use it for sylenth tough. (after not using the open qui, it might hang, but it gets quickly back when u reopen the gui window again.

software companies should work more together, especially with DAW systems when so many third party applications are being used... everything is essential...

Now i have to open every project, save the presets of the plugins with automap, and reload the unwrapped ones to it...

Creativity gone again...

Thank you Novation!😠

Hi everyone!

I've got the same problem with sluggish undo-redo in Logic pro 10.1.1 on Mavericks.

Computer: mac pro 2x quad 2.26, 12 GB of RAM, dual monitor setup. RME-Raydat, few midi interfaces (USB connected) and Avid Artist Control. Only Logic, Eucon and Total Mix running. Simple undo-redo (1 midi note moving) takes this 8processors machine 10-20 sec!onds!

On Logic 9, LPX 10.07, Mountain Lion everything works great.

I've opened similar thread on Logic Pro Help forum.

Hi There. I have a Novation Impulse keyboard with crappy Automap software, and I am (was) also experiencing the slow undo/redo process where the old skool 'Logic Window' appears in top left corner.

But the solution REALLY Does work !

1) Open a terminal

2) Enter and run the following command, entering your password when prompted:

sudo nvram boot-args="debug=0xd4e"

3) Restart the computer

Unbelievable. Try it guys !!!

Actually you don't need to use the full set of NVRAM arguments to get the same effect..

1) Open a terminal

2) Enter and run the following command, entering your password when prompted:

sudo nvram boot-args="debug=0x10"

3) Restart the computer

Works just as well.. Is less intrusive and is less likely to cause other possible issues in the future.....

Note: This does work for some hardware configurations but not all..... At this time there is no definitive list of which hardware it works for and which it doesn't unfortunately...

Additional: As always, when using Terminal sudo commands, you do so at your own risk....

Very slow Undo/Redo Process !
