iTunes problem on Windows 10

Windows 10 is not supported. It doesn't exist as a real product yet. Contact Microsoft.

I agree with KiltedTim. You are using a pre-release version of Windows, and iTunes is probably not tested. Then you are using a beta on the phone and may not even be supported in this version of iTunes. Two beta software, you are really asking for problems right there. The other thing to ask, is if this iPhone 6 Plus is your regular use phone? Remember that beta iOS should only be used on test phones used to check application use. That and the discussion of beta iOS is prohibited in the public forum.

Then use a PC or a Mac that's running a supported operating system. Windows 10 isn't even beta at this point. It's a "technical preview". Microsoft warns you not to run it on a production machine. Apple doesn't support iTunes on non-existent operating systems.

Either look to Microsoft for assistance or find a PC that works.

The latter includes remedial actions that other users have found successful (albeit for supported OSs).

You DO realize that any software goes into beta BEFORE going to a technical preview right? Tech previews are fairly new in the industry. Beta testing has been around for decades.

And just fyi.......this IS an iTunes issue and not an operating system issue. If it were an OS issue, no version of iTunes would work with Win 10. iTunes 10 still works but you lose functionality available in the newer versions of iTunes.

Apple has always been behind the times in comparison to Windows. The ONLY thing Apple got over Microsoft was the iPod over the Zune. But Apple can't even get that right.

You miss the point ... Windows 10 is not officially supported by iTunes - and will not be until Windows 10 is in production. Whether Win10 is in beta or tech preview it is still incomplete and unstable; obviously Apple and all other software vendors will be working with Microsoft to ensure maximum compatibility with Win10 is released. However, any changes that Apple may be making towards that goal are unlikely to be in the current release of iTunes. If iTunes 12.1.1.4 has issues with the current tech. preview of Win10 I'm sure that's of interest to developers and testers with both firms, but no application vendor is going to issue an update aimed at compatibility before official Win10 release. From a marketing perspective an update to iTunes that states Win10 compatibility could well be timed for the same day that Win10 actually ships.

I haven't missed the point. I was educating the commenter that they did not know the difference between a Tech Preview and a Beta as well as the fact that the issue is NOT with the Operating System but rather with iTunes considering that Windows 10 is built on the same kernel as Windows 8 & 8.1.

Considering Apple is having tens of thousands of people with issues with iTunes 12 on the so-called "supported" browsers, it's blatantly obvious the issue is with the application and not the OS.

And btw........there are MANY software vendors that have been ensuring their applications are already compatible with Windows 10 prior to the final build being released. It's just that, as usual, Apple is once again behind the times. I'm not getting nasty with you. I'm just trying to educate people making claims when they shouldn't because they have no clue what they're talking about. I don't like bandwagon riders that do it just for the sake of trying to make themselves appear to know what they're talking about when their own statements prove otherwise.

Get with the times Apple. Those buying the "new" iphones, etc are going to wise up eventually. Think about it......the iPhone 6 is nothing more than a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that was released in 2012. So, I expect Win 10 compatibility should be finalized by Apple somewhere around 2018.

I do indeed know the difference. Windows 10 is in beta. The Technical preview is NOT the beta. Considering I've been beta testing products since the 80's, I'm fairly confident I know what I'm talking about. You, on the other hand, apparently do not.

And to clarify, this is an OS issue. It is not and can not be an iTunes issue unless you are using a supported OS. Apple never claimed it would work on Microsoft's unreleased OS. Until Windows 10 is released in its full and final form AND Apple says it's supported, then this a complete non-issue.

How can Apple (or anyone else) validate or demonstrate "Win 10 compatibility" when the operating system is not released and, even based on the latest technical preview, not finished yet! Win 10 may share some of the kernel code with 8.1 but evidence from previous transitions suggests that many of the services used by applications, including drivers, aren't part of the kernel. How useful would it to be to have a version of iTunes that was compatible with tech previews but fails on GA? As has been pointed out several times, iTunes is not supported on Windows 10 and complaining about this is about as relevant as whining that you can't install it on an Apple II or an IBM mainframe ...

For all you, I or anyone else here knows, the issues that many users have found with the 64-bit releases of iTunes 12 are associated with changes that Apple are making in anticipation of the needs of Windows 10. Nothing you write here is going to influence Apple - indeed, it is a reasonable assumption that it won't even be read by Apple. If you really want to contribute, you can use the iTunes feedback pageor register as an Apple Developerto report issues using their bug-tracking system.

I'm not running an beta iOS on my phone but iTunes under Windows 10 wouldn't recognize my phone, though Windows did. I fixed this by reinstalling the USB driver. Instructions have kindly been provided here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkG9NfKR1DA

Just stumbled on this topic when I was searching if I should bother to try and install iTunes. Most of the answers are useless noise in here, so I installed it anyway and tried it out.

I don't have an iPhone but I bought an iPod nano today and it is recognized by iTunes on Windows 10 (Build 10074). I also tried it with an iPhone 5 for you (I don't have a 6 available right now) and that was also recognized and asked if I wanted to synchronize.

So it seems possible with Windows 10. I have to add though, the first time I installed Windows 10 it didn't work at all and I had to wipe everything clean (including the master boot record) to get it to run. I'm using a Surface Pro 3 for this test, not that it should matter.
