I have a Late 2013 Mac Pro with a OWC ThunderBay IV attached. This combination had worked flawlessly for me for a full year (since I set it up). Now with the 10.10.2 updated installed, the computer goes black and reboots when I power off the ThunderBay after a successful drive eject.

It appears that in an attempt to fix the Thunderstrike vulnerability, Apple has critically compromised Thunderbolt's functionality.

On a separate note, my Mac Book Pro still regularly falls off WiFi with 10.10.2.

Hi,

Thank's for your testimonies

I made upgrade in 10.10.2 , and i have find an issue for my case.

When i want to turn off the computer i don't unmount the Thunderbolt HDD, then i shut down the iMac and my Lacie shut down automatically !

And when i start the iMac i boot ( even if the thunderbolt drive is attached to computer )

For this moment it's the only solution i have found to avoid the crash kernel.

And you don't get the error 'disc not ejected properly'? That's what I get when I simply shut down the mac or put it to sleep with external thunderbolts that were not ejected. And putting the mac pro (end 2013) to sleep isn't good, because the fan stops working and the mac heats up.

LaCie advises always to eject the drives before putting them to sleep of shutting them down. And it isn't wise to put the mac to sleep. What a mess.

This issue is getting really annoying. After 2 hours with apple care on Sunday I was advised to go into the local apple store and review my system with a genius. So yesterday I un cabled my new MacPro and my OWC Mercury Rack Pro, and my Helos converter (mini sas to thunderbolt) and took it all into the genus bar. As usual they were very friendly and helpful, but after close to 3 hours we came to the mutual conclusion that nothing is wrong with my hardware, it is a software issue that either Apple as to fix with 10.2.2 or OWC has to fix. They showed me the Beta OS X 10.3 but it does not even mention this thunderbolt issue. I have waited too long for a fix and am frustrated that I can't get an answer on if or when Apple is going to address this. OWC keeps claiming this is a huge universal issue with all kinds of hard drive manufactures that use thunderbolt connection and 10.2.2 but I both another Lacie drive that worked fine. Is this really a major issue that Apple will address or do I need to toss my OWC thunderbolt drives?
