Intermittent - people can't hear me on outgoing calls

This happens about 1 out of 10 outgoing calls on my iPhone 6. I make the call, and the other line will pick up but not hear me at all. I can hear them perfectly. It is as if I'm on "mute" or something.

If I hang up and call back it works fine. I've tried turning off/turning on the phone and doing the hard restart but it still occurs.

The problem isn't just limited to the handset, it also occurs while on speakerphone or using my bluetooth headset. I've even tried toggling the the mute button during the call to see if they can hear me and that didn't work.

Its becoming really frustrating, especially after calling a customer service and waiting 15 minutes, only to have them come on the line and hang up because they can't hear you!

Anyone have the same issue?

Currently running iOS 8.1.2 on the standard size iPhone 6, 64gb.

AActually, changing your number can fix many problems. It is not network, per say, but something in the codes in my number. one guy could not make long distance calls anymore all of a sudden, but he changed his number and he could. The number is from the carrier and their network routing. It's not the device, not the SIM card, since I got three new ones, and it's connected to my carrier since I could replicate it by putting my SIM card in another device. So far, knock on wood, it's been almost 2 months with the new number and so far so good. I was able to replicate it by calling my land line MANY times, but with my old number, I could make it happen twice within 10 calls. New number, took over 30 calls, and then over 100 the next time. I was obsessed at one point. Lol. After the 911 call problem, I was insisting on fixing the problem.

Makes perfect sense. My LTE upload speed at work is less than 0.05Mb/s (that's NOT a typo), and I also have the muting problem.Complained half dozen times about the non-existent upload speed, and finally about the muting problem to AT&T. They say towers are working fine, but gave no suggestion about the iPhone 6 settings. I actually returned the 6 and got a 6s because I thought it was a defective phone. Same problems on the 6S!! EXCELLENT SUGGESTION. THANKS!!

Almost three months, still no problem with my new number.

As for turning lte off, I did get this to fix another problem I was having at work with calls never ringing through and going straight to voicemail. Please note, however, I had to turn it off for voice AND data. The problem still occurred with it on data only because the phone did not switch to 4G in time for the incoming call to come through before going to voicemail. If my phone is under my desk, even with lte off, it can still happen. My work is a black hole, but turning lte off fixed a lot of problems there. Just not the intermittent outgoing call problem where the person on the other end could not hear me.

I Have an iphone 6s and had the same problem - I could hear the caller clearly but they couldn't hear me . I discovered the problem only occurred when using my phone at home. Do you use EE ? BT Internet ? I do.. So here is the solution.

EE WiFI calls were interrupting my signal, so turning my WiFi off on my phone enabled me to call using 3G or 4G. This worked ! Obviously you need to reconnect to Wifi when not using your phone if you want to use the Internet etc but at least you can have a decent conversation with callers !

I started to have a similar problem a few weeks ago when I upgraded to 9.3.5 my Iphone 6S (USA unlocked phone) which I use in the UK (vodafone 4G). Even after upgrading to 10.0.1 and after a full restore the issue is still coming back.

Unfortunately for me we do not have the cellular Enable LTE option here so I cant change it but I would assume that the fact that it does not appear that it does not use it.

My problem may be a bit different though. In the middle of a call I can't hear neither they can't hear me for like 5-10sec and this could happen about 3-4 times within a call (in around 75% of the call sooo frustrating)

I have tried the Noise Cancellation to see if that helps. Will report back

Did anyone ever find a resolution to this problem? I've been wrestling with this on my iPhone 6 since I first got it. Because I couldn't reproduce the problem at the Apple store, they couldn't do anything for me? I've tried everything AppleCare recommended including a factory reset without using the backup (for fear of a bug carrying over), which was very time consuming.

It seems to happen when I'm on any type of Bluetooth device. I originally thought it wasn't my Bluetooth device until it was happening on all of them. I can hear people perfectly fine but they can't hear me for about 10 seconds. If it's acting up, it tends to keep acting up on the same call.

This is a thorn in my side. Otherwise, my phone works great! Any progress for anyone?
