Why does iTunes 12.1 does not sync new calendar appointments with Outlook 2013?

After updating iTunes to 12.1 64 bit for windows my NEW appointments, contacts and notes are not syncing from Outlook 2013 to my iPhone 5 and iPad Air. Syncing was working fine before I updated to iTunes 12.1. I have disabled all add-ins in Outlook just in case they were the cause of the problem but that hasn't helped either.

iPad Air, Windows 8

"Yes, if you read the iTunes page, it says that it no longer supports a 32-bit version of iTunes, period."

The text on the download page is ambiguous / open to misinterpretation. There is a 32-bit version of 12.2 (I'm running it on a Win7/32 desktop and a Win8.1/32 tablet), but neither download page currently state "32-bit". When you access http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ from a 32-bit system it just says "iTunes 12.2 for Windows 7 or later", and the Software requirements list says "64-bit editions of Windows 7 and Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer" which would only be relevant if someone happened to end up here from a 64-bit system (which ISTR can happen with some browsers).

Why the heck the 32-bit page can't actually say "iTunes 12.2 for Windows 7 or later, 32-bit" is totally beyond me.

Update: Didn't work. Am going to evaluate 3rd party software product that bypasses itunes and icloud and synchs iphone directly to outlook. Will use itunes for backups and that product for synching outlook if satisfied with 7-day trial. I read all their tech info and sent their support 3 questions answered within an hour. I just can't afford any more time trying to get add-ins to install from itunes to outlook. There' just nothing left to try unless Apple wants to come try it themselves in person.

Thanks to everyone for their different hints and helps and efforts. It is deeply appreciated.

Save yourself the time and frustration by investing in third party software. You have a few good choices (I recommend going with one that's not free) and one is bound to meet your requirements. When I add up the time I spend trying to fix iTunes sync issues, it cost much more than buying software. The reason I say not to use the free ones is because a couple of them made things worse.

Here's a list of Outlook sync features to think about as you decide which one is for you.
