Messages on iMac won't send SMS messages, just iMessages

I've read multiple posts here and followed many steps, but still seem to be having issues in using Messages on my iMac to send a message via my iPhone 4S as an SMS if receiver is not registered with iMessages.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9), All software Updates applied

You have read the support article provided in my previous post?

Your Apple ID & password are the same on your iPhone & Mac?

Both Mac & iPhone are on the same Wi-Fi network?

Do you have the entry in Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding > ?

If all is true above, try signing out your Apple ID on both devices then sign back in.

not sure if you have fixed this but i had the same problem, after a quick fault finding i had found everything was in order i.e. signed into iCloud on both iPhone and macbook but i was still unable to see message forwarding, i switched phone off then on again, then the message forwarding came on! selected to authorise macbook and had to input a code. all works great now.
