Latest iOS 8.1.3 battery life

Just updated to the latest iOS on my iPad2. Battery life has dropped considerably per hour. What use to be approx. 6 to10% now has jumped up to almost 20%/hr.

i have gone through Controls to eliminate power to apps. Anyone experiencing the same?

Hi there,

I've experiencing the same problem here. I use iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 (wifi only). I don't use LTE or 3G (on my iPhone) and every battery draining thing is turned off on my devices. (background app refresh/ location services etc.) Charging them with their own charges.

I believe with the last update, 8.1.3., they tweaked wifi settings/reception. Now wifi reception is great everywhere than before, but battery runs out significantly fast.

Also another friend of mine brought this subject up to me, who is using iPhone 5 w/IOS 8.1.3.

I hope Apple will come up with a solution...

One thing to look for, if you haven't already, poke around in the notification center. You may find a lot of stuff defaulted to on that you may not need. Look also in the app settings themselves....settings, general, scroll down to the apps and explore their privacy and notification settings.

Background app refresh and background app update also can affect your battery life.

I"m not missing the point. But since this is a user to user forum, all we can do here is suggest user fixes to you. We have no control over what Apple does or does not do.

You can send them some feedback, or you can make an appointment at your local apple store, let them look at it and log that there may be an issue, but that's about all you can do beyond finding work arounds.

I work for one of the major cell phone carriers and am having the same issues as you on both my ipad mini with retina display and my iPhone 5s. It seems like every other update fixes it then the next one ruins it again. I am not a heavy user at all and my phone just sits in my pocket doing nothing and the battery drains. I normally get over a day out if my phone, but now I'm lucky to get 8 hours. My iPad used to go 5 days with what I do on it, now I'm lucky to get 2 days and it's turned off most if the time (that blows the "turn it off for 2 days theory right out of the water!☺). Clearly this is an Apple issue with the software. I have literally had every iPhone up to this point since 2007 (with the exception of the newest models and the 5c, and have never experienced this issue. Here are a few of my observations:

1. You should not have to turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Your phone is designed to use these effortlessly and you should not have to remember to turn them off and on all the time.

2. Yes, you should close down the apps you are truly not using, but the ones you use often SHOULD be left "open" as it takes more battery and data usage to open them every time you are using them. That is more of a multi taking area for most users.

3. My battery should not drain 20% just by checking my email, my bank account, and my local newspaper before I get out of bed.

4. Good luck everyone, I'm awaiting the "fix" this time and hope they don't mess it up again after they do fix it. I miss getting almost 2 days out of my battery and am tired of my customers complaining to me about it.

Hi,

Indeed, I thought it was my battery who came to its end. I decided to replace it by a brand new battery and you probably guess the resut...

If my iPhone is fully charged at 21:00, when i wake up at 5:30 the battery indicator is near 0%. I can feel the heat of the cpu through the cover of my iPhone and it does nothing (WiFi, Blutooth and background tasks are switched off).

This issue starts to bother a lot of people because it impacts the daily use of our smartphones and/or our tablets.

Please come with a fix...

I've done quite a few restores and tried many things. I've turned way too many settings off and I can say that I get ... decent battery life. But it's not good. I feel like when I bought this phone I had the best battery life (was on iOS 7).
