iTunes Error 7 (Windows error 193)

First I know there are multiple threads on this.

I am running W7 64-bit. Every time I try to install ITune I get an Error 7 (Windows error 193) upon completion ( and another pop up that says 'iTunes helper was not installed'). During the installation process I get a message that Apple Mobile Device Service was unable to start. To which I select 'Ignore'

Having read various threads on my problem I have

1) Gone to Windows Update and checked I have the latest updates.

2) Ensured I have the latest .NET Framework ( 4.5.2)

3) Uninstalled all Apple S/ware ( in the order recommended) except Safari. I also deleted any remaining Folders in Program Data, Program Files & Program Files (x86)

4) Run scan disc

5) Tried installs, after repeating (3) with my anti-virus s/ware switched off but I still get the same failure.

Any other suggestions?

Oh, and I also select 'Run as Administrator for the installation

1. Download and install 7-Zip.

2. Locate your downloaded itunessetup.exe, itunes64setup.exe or itunes6464setup.exe file. Right click on it and from the context menu select 7-Zip > Extract to "<folder>". (I add the version numbers to the filenames so I can tell which installer is which.)

3. Open the newly created folder and install the components one by one. Should any fail to install you may get a useful error message explaining why. Often this method succeeds when the standard installation fails.

I am having exactly the same problem with my laptop which is driving me nuts. I must have spent hours trying to sort out the fallout from an Itunes update two weeks ago. It is good to at last find a set of solutions which I will work through. I have Itunes on my desktop as well which works. Tonight it asked me if I wanted to update......you can guess what I shouted at the screen.......NO WAY!

I was running the latest version of itunes with no problems until a week ago I kept getting the error message that Apple mobile device failed to start and I checked my services and stopped and started it and still was not working so I uninstalled everything in the order I was supposed to and rebooted then I was getting the error message after the install that itunes helper was not installed error 193 same as you and I did go back and removed everything again and installed a earlier version of 12 and it worked for a day then it stopped working getting the same error message, now I followed these steps exactly and installed the version 11.1.3.8 and deleted the registry key and so far Success!

Not sure what is conflicting with itunes current version but it was working fine for me for until a week ago, I have not installed any new programs and I have my anti-virus/firewall settings to allow itunes and have not changed the setting for a long time so unless its a windows update I just don't know what could have caused it to stop working.

Thanks for the fix to you and tt2

Brilliant you are all stars. Following this has worked for me so far. I followed the instructions and the key seems to be removing the registry entry 'Ipod/bin etc'. I then installed Itunes 12 for older video cards as suggested. I can appreciate Apple do not want everyone tinkering with the Registry but it is not much help posting detailed instructions if this essential item is omitted.

Thanks all for you superb help particularly turingtest2.

Hey, I found a solution that worked for me!

Just uninstall every apple component as it is described in many other threads: Bonjour, apple device compatibility, itunes.... etc AND DOWNLOAD ITUNES 12.1.1 (which is the latest i think) for windows WITH OLDER VIDEO CARDS!!!

This is the official link:iTunes 12.1.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)

It worked for me perfectly, I could even JB my iphone with it with no probs.

Like if it worked for you!
