I cannot open links in text messages on my IPhone6. Is there a fix for this problem.

Eureka! I have solved the problem, after trying all of the above remedies and read to visit the local Apple store. Here it is:

Close all the apps.

That's it. It doesn't help to restart the iPhone 7 because it remembers to re-open all the pre-restart apps.

I try so hard to educate myself on today's technology.... so please forgive me if my question seems silly.... but what do you mean by close all apps?! I am soooo darn frustrated that I can no longer do this on my phone and I have done all above suggestions MANY times..... please for the love of all that's Holy..... respond and help me😩

Hello. I understand this thread is from a couple of years ago but I am having the issue now I will try closing all my apps. With regards to your comment about Google applications on an iPhone I believe that is where the problem lies for all of the issues that come up on an iPhone such as not being able to follow links in text messages.

The workaround there is of course to cut and paste the link into a web browser but that’s a pain in the *** and it wastes time. Another issue I’m having with my phone 6 is the microphone no longer works unless I have a hands-free device plugged in. The microphone will work for Siri and other functions that require Use of a mic on the phone but only if I have a headset plugged in that also doubles as a hands-free device. I believe all of the problems started when I installed the Google app Gmail app and Google Chrome. I’m currently voice texting this message using earbuds with a microphone. The vet said rest assured; all of the typos are because of the voice recognition Software on my iPhone 6 is not good and which pales in comparison to the voice recognition the Google uses in its apps.

If you are having issues with your iPhone not being able to open web links from text messages, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.

First, quit all running applications and test again -

Force an app to close in iOS

Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -

Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -

How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

Any udate on this I'm having the same issue

Also having this problem after the 9.3 iOS update.

Tried hard reboot.

Tried Settings->Safari->Clear history and web site data.

Tried Settings->Safari->Javascript and turned Javascript off.

Tried Settings->Messages Turn iMessages off and then back on.

Tried another hard reboot.

Checked Settings->General->Restrictions and that was off.

iPhone 6.

iOS version 9.3

This was working before update.

Any information would be appreciated.

This is dealing with problems with 9.3.

Supposedly Apple working on it.

Most link errors seem to be in mail not iMessage.

Hopefully they are related.

Closing all Apps worked for me. Strange, this seems to have only been an issue since the latest IOS update?

To close all open apps, just double click home button, then you can close by sliding up, hope this helps.
