For those having problems with the iOS 9.3 update please read...

So many people are having problems with the update to iOS 9.3 and the questions are flooding the iOS support forums now. I am hoping that by consolidating some of the information available, it will help some of you without starting hundreds of new threads all asking about the same things.

Please do not shoot the messenger if you already know all of this. I am just trying to help by providing some information To the community. Theses problems are well known, Apple has acknowledged them and is reportedly working on a fix that should be out soon.

Here are some tech site articles that explain the problems if any of you are interested in reading them. They are in no particular order other than what my most recent Google search turned up for me.

Apple posted these support articles a couple of days ago and they might help some of you as well

If you can't activate your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch after installing iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If you can’t activate your iPad 2 (GSM model) after you update to iOS 9.3 - Apple Support

If nothing suggested works for you right now, you will just have to be patient (remember that "please don't shoot the messenger" thing from above ) and wait until Apple issues the fixed software update.

That's great that Apple is "working on it", but in the meantime our devices are worthless other than for game. Email links are a VERY big deal for those of us on the road.

That being said, do you know of a way to revert back to the pre 9.0s1 software?

Thanks for taking the time to post those links. It is disappointing that Apple doesn't have these on their website.

Many thanks for posting this.... I wish there was a way to make a "sticky" out of your post and have it show up at the top.

Earlier today I emailed the hosts with this suggestion.

Issues with iOS 9.3

Good afternoon,

New threads are being opened repeatedly in the ASC about the same issues with the iOS 9.3 release - activation problems, links not working, etc., so I have a suggestion. Why not put a temporary announcement at the top of the iPhone and iPad Forums indicating that Apple is aware of the issues, that it is working diligently to resolve them, and that a fix will be available soon. This would acknowledge the issue and provide feedback to users. Acknowledging the problems is better than keeping users in the dark prompting them to post the same questions over and over. Thanks for your consideration.

Keep dreaming, right?

If you want to revert to 9.2.1, one of the links that Demo posted explains how to do this.

http://osxdaily.com/2016/03/25/troubleshooting-ios-9-3-update-problems/

It says:

Consider Downgrading iOS 9.3

If you are experiencing persistent problems with iOS 9.3 on a device, you may want to consider downgrading to the prior stable version of iOS 9.2.1. This works to remedy any of the above mentioned issues, but also fixes some of the other software annoyances like Mail and Safari links failing to work, copy and paste errors, Bluetooth not working, and many other bugs that have popped up with iOS 9.3 in it’s current form. A potential issue with this is that if a backup was not made prior to the original iOS 9.3 update, the user may lose their data. This is a somewhat technical process that uses firmware files, but we detail the steps to downgrade iOS 9.3 to iOS 9.2.1 here in a thorough walkthrough.

I Haven't updated my ipad yet and am using version 9.2.1 safari links do not open and it will not recognise the Internet connection when trying to perform update to version 9.3 my iPhone 6s is fine however even after updating the software. I did have booking.com app on iPad and not on iPhone and believe that this app maybe to blame. Anyone else having the same ??

IMHO, this is an utter fiasco. I suspect news of these issues will soon break into the MSM and become a fail comparable to Classic Coke or Windows 8.

I am a casual user of Apple (I have an iPad 2, use it for reading in bed) but I am good friends, as they say, with wall-to-wall Apple fanatics. I have bought several Apple products for older, non-savvy users in particular because Apple just works. These people don't know Javascript from Kenyan coffee. (BTW, I am posting this message using Windows 10 on a Dell.)

Two points bother me:

1) The bug seems related to usage. The more links you click (whether iPhone or iPad, 2, 4, Pro, S or C) the sooner the fail. (I installed 9.3 about 3 days ago but the link problem started yesterday. I've been using Chrome since but I have to hold and open in a new tab.) My suspicion is that this is connected to Apple's (peculiar) method to route url link clicks. But what do I know.

2) I've noted that my iPad (under 9.3) is now warm/hot, and consuming battery power quickly. Under 9.2.1, I didn't have this problem.

I don't know if I would rank this with Windows 8 and the Classic Coke situations, but this is hardly Apple's finest hour. They really screwed this on up. I wish that I had answers that were more useful than what I have but I was just hoping to put out some information in one single thread that might be beneficial to a number of people. There have been thousands of views in different discussions all about the same thing, and I was hoping to catch new people coming in and share as much as could.

Your comment about the more usage the worse the problem gets, is the first time that I have heard that. That might be a clue if anybody else has seen the problem manifest itself that way.

I Know that you know, that the device should not be getting hot and consuming battery power quickly. I would suggest a backup and clean install of the iOS with a restor of the backup, once Apple releases the fix. You have probably thought of that already, but I thought I would suggest it anyway.

You have done more than most, have replied to many over and over, and explained the issue as much as possible. I for one appreciate it. I hope Apple does too.
