how do i get a code for airplay for apple tv
Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
Tried resetting apple tv. Now I can't get any sound unless I turn off Wi-Fi. It says I'm not connected to Airplay when I turn wi-fi back on. So I clicked to turn Airplay on. Then I tried disconnecting, and it won't disconnect.
I've been using apple products for nearly 20 years, and I've never had the amount of problems I've had in the last couple months. This is crap.
By the way, if it's any use to anyone - when I'm asked for the code it's displaying on my tv.
I was getting the popups a few times a minute. Very frustrating. This is just garbage.
Now the popups have stopped, but Airplay is still automatically connecting whenever I plug in my audio cable. I plug it it, and Airplay comes on, and can't be turned off. I unplug the cable, and it's off.
Of course I have no idea why this is happening or how to stop it.
YouTube video of me turning Airplay on and off just by plugging in my audio cable:
Settings AirPlay then security on appletv then you choose if you want a password or not..
after you've enabled pairing on computer and apple tv
Go into your Apple TV (on the TV)
select AirPlay
Select ON
Code Pops Up (hopefully)
use that code in the window asking for AirPlay code
voila
Same problem. Tried all fixes but failed. MacBook and latest Apple TV are all running latest software, including Yosemit update earlier this week. Tried turning security password requirement on and off via AppleTV, but that did nothing. On Airplay section of AppleTV, I was able to generate a code by toggling the Require Device Verification setting from Off to On. Now, a 4 digit code appears, but my Macbook keeps telling me that it is the incorrect code. Huh? This is a frustrating new development.
Exact same problem here. Everything was working a couple of weeks ago and now it's not. I keep getting the stupid code request issue you get on my 4th gen ATV. And can't even connect to my 3rd gen ATV at all which I could previously. So I guess the issue is MAC OS related not Apple TV.
I'm having the same problem! I just went through the software update procedure and nothing helped! Does anyone at Apple get on this thread and can they offer any solution or a timeline?
This is a user forum, you aren't addressing Apple here. Have you tried a restore? May want to take it to Apple for testing
I have this happening too and I don't have an apple TV. This has been since the iOS 10 'update. When I have bluetooth on and listen to audio or watch a video using my bluetooth hearing aids I get the message to enter the airplay password for apple TV. How do I get this to stop? Apple needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.
This thread was started long before. It may be picking up the signal. Test on another network
Not true. Im having the exact same
problem.
Not sure what you're referring to. You can try disabling and re-enabling AirPlay. A restore. Testing on another network.
The 4-digit code will display on your tv! Enter this code into your IOS device and you're in. That's it.
I answered this below. Look at your tv display. The 4-digit code will show up on there. Simply enter it into your IOS device.
