Will adding more memory speed up my computer?

I have a late 2009 27" iMac 3.06 Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM and an ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB Graphics card. My system has been running crazy slow lately and I've tried a number of fixes to no avail. Short of buying a newer, faster, and more current computer I was wondering if adding more RAM would help?

Thoughts? Thanks!

You're saying that I can upgrade the RAM on my system to a total of 16 GB? My machine says that I have 4 and can add 4 more. That'd be great if I can go with 16.

Yes,

I have the same model iMac as you have and mine has the full 16 GBs installed.

I purchased my RAM upgrade from OWC aka Other World Computing ( macsales.com).

Will adding more memory speed up my computer?
