In Numbers for iOS 8 when I double tap a cell the Input Bar is nownot displayed as it used to be, so I get just the number keyboard and not the choice of letters and formula. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the app but that hasn't helped.

Hi, When I tap a cell on my iPad, I, get the number keypad. If I understand you correctly that's what's happening to you. There's a letter "T" in a black circle and if you touch it, it gives you the full keyboard for entering text. Sorry if I've misunderstood your issue. Hope this helps.

Try selecting all the cells, tapping the little paintbrush, select the header "formatt" and choose "text." "Automatic" might work, too.

I Recently had this problem and at the bottom right of the keyboard shown you will see 3 dots. Hold there and drag your keyboard up. My input field was some how hidden by the keyboard. Once I started using it, the input field reoriented itself back above the keyboard.

Took a while to find the dots you were talking about. They're in the lower right.

This is a little less painful than what I had been doing. If you press the button to put the app in the background; then double press the button to resume numbers, then the input bar magically appears above the keyboard where it is supposed to be.
