How do you select multiple photos in iCloud?

You can get past the need to click save by changing the settings in your browser.

In Firefox, you can go to preferences->applications and insert a rule that says that jpeg images should be downloaded without confirmation. You can do the same with .mov files to download the movies.

You still have to download each album separately, but you don't have to click on each item.

It seems from reading this same complaint from a lot of users, it's already a given that shift-selection is disabled. Are you sticking by your claim that shift-select works. If so, what's the trick. Is there a special element in the procedure that everyone is missing? Thx.

No, the shift-select doesn't work for me, but it did as recently as 6 months ago. It makes me upset that they killed this. I see it as Apple making it less convenient to download my pictures. I was hoping to add to the throng of disappointed users.

If the photos are on your iOS device, you can connect it to your computer via a USB cable. Then navigate to your iPhone (or iPad) like it's any external USB drive. Open its folder and see all of your pictures. Copy them to your computer. Then you can delete them from your iPhone (or iPad). If you're still logged in to iCloud from your iPhone (iPad) this will permanently delete your photos from the device and iCloud. So make sure they're really on your computer. If you intend to back them up to a different drive solution you may want to do that first just so you can be sure they're safe.

I think Apple made it so difficult to manage this process is so they can sell additional space! It's absolutely ridiculous that a company that is know for its design flair can 3825 something up so completely.

While not a solution for iCloud, it can be a help to those needing to delete multiple photos to make space on your iPhone.

So to select and delete multiple photos at once on iPhone:

1. Open the any album of photos

2. Click select in the top right corner to put the application into "Select Mode"

3. Tap and hold the first photo.

4. Without taking your finger off the screen slide it all the way to the right (last photo on the same row)

5. Sowly move your finger to the bottom right photo of the last row.

6. Now you should see the screen start to move up and select row by row of photos until it gets to the end.

7. If you move slightly below the bottom bar it will move faster and faster.

8. Once all photos are selected click the delete icon in the bottom right.

You are essentially drawing a number 7 on the screen.

Note: the above was done on an iPhone 6s as of Aug 19, 2017

APPLE: why can't we select all or multiple photos in a simple and quick way? None of the solutions below work!

I agree, it's very annoying that the one cannot hold shift to mark multiple photos in iCloud. Especially since the feature was there a few weeks ago. I regularly download photos in this manner.

Instead of holding shift to select multiple photos, hold control.

Agree, completely! Fix this, Apple. Add a select all button ffs. This should be an obvious feature in a photo storage system. Smdh.

Well, as we have suggested in this thread before, if you want to use an archival cloud photo service, you should use Dropbox or Google Photos.

Also as has been stated, iCloud Photo Library is not an archival cloud service, it is a syncing/sharing service designed to provide a single database that is accessible by any of your devices or computers that are signed into iCloud Photo Library.

Not surprising how difficult just downloading pictures can be with an Apple product. It's the most simplest task that we should be able to do.

I'm bypassing this problem by plugging in my iPhone to my desktop PC at work. This way, I can SHIFT (yay!! SHIFT key!!) all my thousands of photos and drag them over to a folder.

Forget asking Apple to fix this if they couldn't get this right from the beginning.
