Push not working for yahoo email

My yahoo (BT) email has suddenly stopped pushing the emails through automatically. It has stopped working on iPhone 6, iPad air, plus my husband's iPhone 6 and iPad 3. All running 8.1.3. I have spoken to BT, who say the problem isn't theirs as I can send and receive emails, plus their devices are working. The problem is happening on two different email accounts (mine and my husband's).

I have tried deleting the accounts on both the phone and iPad and reinstalling them, but still no joy. If I go into mail settings and into the fetch data and switch from push to fetch, then back again, it works for that one time, but then stops. Both of us only have yahoo mail set up and no iCloud email account, so can't check if the problem is just yahoo or push issue. Have run out of options as the issue isn't specific to one particular device.

Any help would be nice. Thanks.

A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.

On the iPhone, tap Settings.

Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.

Tap Add Account.

Tap Other.

Tap Add Mail Account.

Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.

Click Next.

Ensure IMAP is selected.

Enter the following incoming mail server information:

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL

Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com

Port: 993

Requires SSL: Yes

Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.

Username is your full email address

Password is the same password used to access webmail.

Enter the following outgoing mail server information:

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL

Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Port: 465 or 587

Requires SSL: Yes

Requires authentication: Yes

Username is your full email address

Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.

Tap Next.

The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.

That’s all!

Setting up my Yahoo mail as imap mail using the Other mail option worked to get push mail going again, but too bad that in that mode it will only sync Mail and Notes (vs the native Yahoo mail setup that can also sync Calendars and Contacts). Unfortunately, the native iOS Yahoo! integration seems to have a bug, even beyond the issue with pushing mail. In the case of my wife's iPhone 6 (iOS 8.3.1), the native Mail app would allow the Yahoo! mail to be set up, but then the mail app would crash on launch. Remove Yahoo! native setup and replace with generic imap, problem solved. Not sure if this is an iOS problem or a Yahoo! problem.

Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language. I had the same problem. I tried EVERYTHING, even restore the cellphone and contact Apple Support, and they couldn't solve it. I don't want to use the Yahoo Mail app, because it doesn't synchronizes calendar and reminders. So, I tried something that's working for me so far. Go to settings, tap mail, contacts, calendars, go to get data. In Yahoo, you should have activate the push function. Tap there. You'll see three options: push, get data, and manual. Change it to "get data". Go back and choose how often you want to get data: 15 minutes, 30 or an hour (don't put it in manual). And that's it. You will not receive mail notifications immediatly, but al least you'll have them within the next fifteen minutes. I hope this help somebody. God bless you
