I was given an older MacPro 1.1 with Tiger and want to know whats the latest OS i can run on it.
Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 4Gig memory 2x Dual core 2.66
Mac OS X 10.7.5. Getting there requires going through 10.6.3 and 10.6.8.

This will be a fresh install so I dont care about the software on it. I have a clean disk
Hi Neil the only thing i see on your link is to buy 10.6 i dont see where to "download a dvd". are you saying to buy it than buy the upgrade to or am i missing something there
Im not trying to run anything beyond 10.5 on my PP G4 cause i know it wont Ive already neen done that road, Im trying to get the best OS on a MacPro 1.1

sorry for the confusion there drew but if you look at my original post you will see im talking about a macpro,

ok know I'm on the right track with the software here's my next question it has 4 1g memory sticks installed can i leave them in and add say another 8g using 4 2g sticks or do they all need to match

Any idea if these Mac Pros have a thermal calibration utility? G5's had a tool that needed to be run after changing the CPU's, I wonder if the Intel Mac's need it too?
