IOS 8.2 update caused my iMessage to stop working

I just updated my iPhone 4S to IOS 8.2 today, March 9th, and now my iMessage doesn't work. It says it's, "waiting for activation". I can't send or receive texts with iMessage but standard SMS texts seem to work fine. Did this happen to anyone else after updating? If so, did anyone fix it? I've already tried the basic trouble shooting solutions like restarting, hard rebooting, turning my iMessage on and off, resetting my network settings, etc...

Have you tried Reset all settings? That may fix the problem if not restoring with a computer would be a good option.

Dear all,

I am a fervent iSheep. This is the first time when I upgraded my iPhone 4S's software that things got mucked up. My symptoms was that when I opened iMessage that it does not show any of my messages. After a while it will take me to "create a new message" form/page as if I wanted to create a new one (which I didn't). Switching the iPhone off/on sometimes actually showed my messages but it was incredibly slow. Then the next time I used the iMessage it would be missing (thus it did not delete the messages ... halleluja). People who sent me messages also did not show and/or wasn't notified, and no it is a brand new SIM. Then I started to miss calls as well. I phoned myself from a landline, sometimes the phone will start to ring, and other times it will show nothing ...

Because I updated via the phone and not iTunes, I thought that be the problem, maybe some flash bit-rot or something. So I did a iphone restore (complete ipsw download etc.) ... and the symptoms continue. I tried to access the Apple website to downgrade to 8.1.3 (which was awesome). But now it doesn't allow me to download that firmware ... I recon they removed it on purpose ...

Apple please ... Mr Jobs is turning in his grave ...

I have done it all: reset everything, the airplane +wifi trick, restored phone & set-up as new, replaced SIM. NOTHING WORKED!!!!

I'm sill not having my phone number connected to iMessage nor to FaceTime.

Neither works the sms text forwarding option.

My wife's phone has the same issue.

I think there is a problem with the apple servers.

Everyone you don't need to restore your device to downgrade follow this video it's not the right versions but it's the same process. Just download the file from ipsw.me select your device and iOS 8.1.3 but make sure it has a green tick if it has a red x then you're too late when downloaded in iTunes connect your device back it up when back up is finished hold Option (Mac) Shift (Windows) while holding Option/Shift click update a little window will pop up select that file you downloaded and click open then a window will pop up saying iTunes will update your iPhone to iOS 8.1.3 and verify the update with Apple. click update and this will actually downgrade your device without losing any personal data. http://https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sWHCRNBY8fA

no charging issues. not sure about battery either.... it might have used slightly more battery, from 16% to dead was surprisingly fast... 15 minutes having the phone in the pocket and 6 short text iMessages. I'll check the battery drain and I will probably come back with a confirmation.

By the way apple chat support was unavailable... funny hugh?!
