IOS 8.2 update caused my iMessage to stop working

Have you tried Reset all settings? That may fix the problem if not restoring with a computer would be a good option.

I am having the exact same issue. I updated to 8.2 last night and now today I am having the same issue with imessage. Also, my phone will not sign in to icloud even though i keep inputting my password (which I know is correct). The sign in screen jsut keeps popping up. I've tried the same fixes and nothing has worked.

Same happened with me, after 8.2 update iMessage isn't working anymore. Tried turning iMessage on/off, resetting network connections -> all without result. Very frustrating!

I had the same issue. Looked in Settings and iMessage was set to "Off". When I turned it back on, it took a minute to sign in but everything worked as it had prior to updating to iOS 8.2.

Same here. Updated to 8.2, noticed my iMessage was off. Tried all of the "tricks," turned iMessage and FaceTime off, rebooted, re-enabled. Worked for a bit. iMessage worked with some contacts, not with others. Stopped working again. Tried again. Didn't work this time. Tried the "reset all network settings," that didn't work either. Now iMessage and FaceTime just say "waiting for activation."

Same here, and I'm abroad so imessage is one of my only ways to communicate and I can't receive SMS. I've tried all the methods and haven't had success so I need a fix soon!

the problem on my end has been fixed... my 4G data bundel was completely used, I didn't got a warning about it and it caused iMessage to hang. I discovered this when I had no issues when I was on wifi... 😊 / FACEPALM

Just wanted to say that it looks like (fingers crossed) everything has been fixed on my end. Had a lot of weirdness all day, but I seem to have all of my iMessaging capabilities back. I can't say for sure that I did anything to fix it, or if something was done on Apple's end to fix it. But it did just start working after I let my iPhone sit for a while.

If imessage is stuck activating, back out to Facetime (In settings) and see if that is stuck activating as well. If it is uncheck it and check it. Go back to imessage and it should reactivate.

I had updated my iPhone 6 with IOS 8.2 and observed that both iMessage & Facetime stopped working.

When I turn on iMessage & Facetime, it only shows waiting for activation . . .

Apple SHOULD FOCUS on PROPER TESTING of updates BEFORE GOING LIVE as Apple users had to face the problem till Apple provides a fix.

Why should EXISTING USERS PAY THE PRICE or FACE ISSUES just because Apple wants to go for an UNSTABLE UPDATE along with the LAUNCH OF A NEW PRODUCT

iMessage was off after 8.2 install on 6plus. I simply turned it back on and now it's working. Settings>messages>iMessage

iMessage has been shutting off for me off and on all day since the update....and message history will disappear and reappear as well (whether the person is an iPhone user or not).

I had the same problem, I tried enabling and disabling iMessage but it didn't work. I enabled and disabled facetime and that did the trick 🙂

Unfortunately, this and the rest of these things haven't worked for me

Im having the same issues, also only have wifi(currently in japan) i installed IOS8.2 and now iMessage will not work but FaceTime did, but now both are not working. please help
