storage issues iphone 6

My Iphone 6 says my storage is now full. It was at 10.3 GB but with no additional apps downloaded it has jumped to 12.2GB, and even after deleting photos and videos it remains at 12.2GB now. There seems to be something else taking up space but its not listed in the manage storage list.

Anyone know what might be causing my memory to be full?

Hi this morning I've contacted Apple Support and received call from Apple which we discussed a bit about this issue.

In the end, I'm told to backup and restore my phone to factory settings. I'm going to share my experience here.

Yes I backed up my phone using iTunes and restored it using iTunes also. You have all the personal informations and app data inside but you'll have to redone load the app yourself. After doing so and redownload all the app I used to have, yes indeed I've cleared most of the space and have 5.5GB space. I'm happy and took a nap.

I just woke up and realize, I have 2.1GB left. Seriously ?

Hope Apple can address this issue and thanks to Micheal from Singapore Apple support for the guide provided.

Hi guys

Im experiencing the same problem with iphone 6 16GB cap. I basically deleted evthg taking up space: no photos, no huge apps, no music..

everytime i delete smthg the freed space keeps getting "eaten" by smthg. whwn i go to manage storage the apps sizes dont add up.

Something is really wrong, I realized smthg, this problem started after updating the latest whatsapp version, any particular reason for this?

Any thoughts?!

ELVAXIAO: you tried thar restore and it worked after? I RESTORED mine but I don't think it was to FACTORY SETTINGS and the memory continues do disappear. One thing for sure , We have Had our Iphones for a long time, with whatsapp and other Apps...IF memory would run out we would link our phone to the computer Itunes and transfer all pictures, erase some old Apps if necessary to get space right? I've done this sometimes and never noticed what started to happen 3 days ago!!! For me this is VERY RECENT! I had the iphone software updated before and didnt have this problem...is it a Bug from Whatsapp? I dont know but i havent updated whatsapp in some months and it says it has its last version...In my case its something recent and i havent downloaded any apps recently. Can it be a virus?

Guys,

I followed the advise from one of the members and removed WhatsApp. Immediately I got all my lost storage back. From zero to 5.1GB and I don't believe Whatsapp photos/videos would actually had taken this much amount. So it is certainly some software compatibility issue between whatsapp and IOS 9.2.1.

I am frequent whatsApp user but cant install it back as issue will re-surface. Is anybody in Apple looking into it, pleeeeeeease

Regards

Vishal

I don't know if this will help anyone but I was about to restore my phone from a back up (like i did last night when this problem started) but when I clicked "Back up now" before my eyes I saw the space jump from 0 available to 4GB free space! So maybe if you can, as a temporary solution, just try back up your phone? Sounds like the problem is being caused by Whatsapp though (the update came through on 28th Feb). And whatsapp keeps telling me it can't receive messages as storage is almost full and when it's "full" whatsapp won't even open.

I've been hit by the same bug. 30 mins earlier my phone was working fine with 30gb of available space and 30 mins later there's 30.36gb of Documents & Data (as my iTunes show), if anybody has any luck with it please share. A friend of mine is also going crazy about the given issue. Although I have yet to delete stuff and start working for a solution myself I thought to check out communities before messing up all the data in my phone.
