Why is iTunes Radio continuously skipping songs, I've tried all the suggestions I can find

iTunes Radio just continuously skips songs on all of my devices - Apple TV, iPad mini and iPad 2 and iPhone 6. I've tried all the suggestions I've been able to find so far:

  • Recycling the power to my modem/router
  • signing in and out of iTunes and icloud
  • deleting both accounts and reading back
  • deleting my wifi home network and adding back

Any additional suggestions I can try? I really like this feature? I would hate to have to create a new Apple ID or something, I don't even know how my stuff would transfer from one ID to another. Please help!

Thank you in advance!!!!

I've had this same issue for the last few weeks also. After reading a few other threads I decided to check my Apple ID payment information and it appears that it needed to be updated for some odd reason.

Log into account via iTunes and check/update your payment information.

Immediately after this, I was able to play iTunes Radio on my MacBook Pro, iPad & iPhone. I still had troubles on my Apple TV but a simple restart through the settings solved this problem as well!

Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestions, but they didn't work. I went into my Apple ID on both my iPad and iPad mini and nothing indicated needing an update in the payment info, but I did so anyway. I then logged out and back in on both, went to music and tried iTunes radio and same issue. And just to clarify, it will play eventually - but it's after 40-50 rapid skips. I was messaging with my ISP Cox, and while I feel the issue may lie there - I simply don't have 45 mins to spend on the line with them. I'm just confused as all was fine until last Thursday, and I've changed nothing device settings or ISP wise. I feel these boards are generally more helpful anyway. Thanks for any additonal feedback!!

I am having the same problem in SE Phoenix on two apple tv devices in my home. I've reset everything, (apple tv, computer, router..etc) checked all my accounts, etc... have super highs peed internet and same issue. Apple tv Itunes radio skips 20-30 songs - plays a song, and eventually plays about the same 4 songs over and over and over. This just started less than a week ago, and thinking maybe it had to do with the latest software upgrade. I have a call scheduled with Apple support tomorrow, but usually find them to not be very helpful. Any help out there would be appreciated. Like I said, I have two devices doing the same thing - so I can at least replicate the issue.

Sounds like we are in the same boat, kapollock. I too am in Phoenix, and I'd be curious to hear what Apple says. Cox didn't take any ownership and blamed Apple, and I imagine you may hear the same - is Cox your ISP? I did take my phone off of wifi and it connected to iTunes Radio fine, another reason I'm leaning towards an ISP issue. But I would think it wouldn't play a single thing then, or I would have connectivity issues overall - if it was solely Cox - plus I only have wifi capable iPads. I read somewhere else that it was potentially a firewall issue? With that again though, I would think nothing would come through. It's all just annoying. Let us know what feedback you get tomorrow. Thanks!!

OK - this fixed my problem of skipping 30-40 songs and playing the same ones over and over.

I moved and changed the address on a credit card associated to my Itunes account. The credit card was still active, however the billing address was incorrect in my iTunes account. Make sure your Itunes account billing and payment information is correct as the slightest error will cause everything to seem like it is working correctly, except iTunes Radio.

My Fix:

In Itunes - enter Account - edit user information - edit payment method (update all information)

fixed problem on both of my two Apple TV devices

Wow. It worked. When Xxxreme had suggested before, I had only changed the card info itself, and not the billing address. So I 'updated' to all of the same info, logged out and back in, and it works. Tested multiple stations and on both iPads and my phone, will do Apple TV in the morning. Some type of indicator would be nice? And I won't fell guilty about blaming Cox . Thanks all, and hopefully this works for anyone else experiencing this issue!

Thanks for that info, bledri. Someone posted in another thread that they have Cox and experience the same, so that adds to my bottom line the root cause really is Cox. Not to sound completely inept, but would you mind walking me throught the steps exactly that you changed on your AppleTV? And do you have other devices you did this change on or just AppleTV? Thanks again for your feedback, would like to get a more permanent fix in place.
