That is some excellent work Chris. I was not able to duplicate that behavior and obviously could not figure out what the heck was going on. I'm glad that the OP saw your response before trying a restore.
I also start my emails from either the built in mail app or the Xfinity Connect app that I use for my main email account. I may have never seen that behavior the way that I create emails.
Great job, thanks for information. I will send feedback as well.
I guess I had a little time on my hands, and just couldn't understand why the Send button would be grayed out, so I had to test. Again, it was difficult at first to create a mail that way, so it took a little while. I've reported it as well.
I searched high and lo using Google and just kept drawing a blank. So I put some time into it myself, but with no results. That's really an odd scenario and it certainly is a bug.
TThanks to both of you for your efforts and recommendations.
I really didn't do anything to help, Chris resolved this for you. However you are quite welcome.
You're welcome. Glad to be able to help.
Not sure what is going on here or when it may have started, as I always create my email by typing a name into the To: section and select from a list rather than going from the Contacts app as the OP is reporting. But I've been able to duplicate the behavior.
I just tried to duplicate the behaviour on my iPad 2, iOS 8.1.3 but couldn't (I never had to force close the mail app to activate the send button no matter how many times I went back & forth between contacts & mail) so not sure what is going on as the original poster is running 8.1.2 andChrisJ4203 is running iOS 8.2. Strange not to have the issue on iOS 8.1.3 but then this just goes to show there may be more than one factor contributing to this behaviour.
So you are saying that you went into Contacts, selected an email address from a contact, then sent a mail. Went back into Contacts a second time, either the same contact or a different one, selected an email address from within the contact and when the blank mail message came up, after typing in the Subject, your Send button was active?
SSecond and subsequent times the send button was grated out, could not send
Can confirm with iPad 3 and IOS 8.2. Send is grey-out.
YYes all iPad and iPhones up to 5s
The other poster has not returned, and hasn't confirmed that they exactly duplicated what was done. I'm not positive from what they posted that it was exactly duplicated. Thanks for the support. Again, it really isn't a problem for me, but the OP said it is her Dad that makes mail selections that way, and that is what brought the problem to light.
Yeah, that's not how I do e-mail also (through Contacts app).
I was curious, so I did a few tests using my Contacts and I can confirm your finding.
If the Mail app is in the background (multitask list) after the first e-mail, Send is grey out until you trash it from multitask list.
Well, maybe the OP can train her Dad to email the other way. It works fine that way. Thanks again.
You're welcome.
