I have a big problem: how do I get rid of a persistent keylogger?

I did a reinstall of OS Snow Leopard and that totally solved my keylogger problem:

1. My computer was no longer slow, it didn't keep making constant noises as if there was a process in the background when I wasn't using my computer

2. All websites loaded super quickly and there wasn't this horrible 5 second lag when I typed something or a skip in videos when I watched something...

but then,,,,,2 days later....

as I was in gmail, MY SCREEN WENT TOTALLY WHITE

and I had to restart my computer...and now THIS ANNOYING KEYLOGGER problem has returned.

How do I get rid of the a*hole who is targeting my computer? I don't have time to reinstall Snow Leopard again and again. How can I get rid of this annoying keylogger that is making my computer SUPER SLOW?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo 2

It's weird because I started having the same problem after I downloaded an EXCEL file, however, after running the EtreCheck, it went back to normal again!

Are you sure there is another check that the EtreCheck does that removes worms and viruses?

In any case, I like the software a lot. By the way, Kurt, is there is a free VPN you suggest that works well with MAC? Thanks 🙂

Yes, quite sure. It's a system data gathering tool, nothing else. It will recognize if you have adware installed and alert you to its presence, but it can't remove it.

These five free VPN packages were voted the best, though the page is now a year old. They are either free for a trial period, or free with the caveat you have to put up with ads on the free version. Paid version eliminates the ads. I haven't tried any of these (or any VPN software), so my suggestion is only a page for you to look over and decide for yourself.

I started having the same problem

Sorry to be dense, but what it "the same problem"?
