How to print in black and white from Microsoft Word?

So I'm out of cyan toner, and my printer is capable of printing in black and white. However, for the life of me I cannot figure out how to send a black and white print command from Word for Mac. I've tried looking for the option, but I can't find anything in the print command window. I'm currently running Yosemite. I've even tried printing from Preview, but the option isn't available there either.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! Your March 2015 dialogue with gettingaPCnexttime just enabled me to fix the identical problem I've been struggling with since switching from a Windows PC to an iMac with Yosemite (actually, as of today, El Capitan).

I've been deleting and adding my Canon Series MX920 printer (mine's an MX922), resetting printer system preferences, over and over and over. Every time I ended up with the same limited print menu in WORD and had to open my document as a PDF in Preview in order to access the full print menu which includes fast print and grayscale.

This added multiple steps, which was a minor annoyance. The more important issue, to me, was that somehow Apple's OSX seemed to be pre-empting WORD's print functionality. If I wanted to print from within WORD (without opening Preview), there were simply no "advanced" handling options that I could access in the print menu.

After spending substantial time searching for clues online, and discussing the problem with floor staff at my local Apple store (his advice was to make an appointment to bring my iMac to the Genius Bar, which I would have done only as an absolutely last resort), I spoke at length with a very helpful advisor at Apple Support. After he was unable to resolve my WORD problem, I shared my WORSE print issues with Chrome (clicked on print, got a print window that said "preview" and...nothing more happened, ever) and my MUCH WORSE issue with PhotoStudio (Arcsoft's photo processing software, similar to Photoshop Elements, that I'd installed via the App Store), because the printer icon and the "Print" menu item were grayed out,so I couldn't even attempt to print. At this point, given that I was experiencing print problems across several applications (albeit different problems) he concluded the problem likely was a flaw in the OSX installed on my iMac. This conversation took place four days before the El Capitan update, and he recommended waiting to see whether the update would fix the problems.

Sadly, nothing changed under El Capitan, but I decided to take one last shot at scouring the web before running to Apple Support again. And, HOORAY - I found gettingaPCnexttime's IDENTICAL problem with WORD, and your detailed, comprehensive, accurate and ABSOLUTELY PERFECT advice.

The key for me turned out to be that the installation process for my printer "defaulted" to "AirPrint" rather than my printer's drivers. I would never have noticed this but for your pointing it out. I've detailed my own experience here, rather than stopping at the heartfelt thank-you, in the hope that someone else running into the same problem will benefit from the additional information.
