SInce upgrading to mavericks computer is so slow now.

SInce upgrading to mavericks computer is so slow now. Freezes more than it opens applications. Should I upgrade ram form 2gb to 4gb? Would that help? Wish I had left it using snow leopard at this point.

iMac (20-inch Early 2009), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Update your RAM. 2GB is not enough to run Mavericks or Yosemite efficiently.

Also post an etrecheck report in case you have third party apps installed that are also causing issues.
