Why can't there be a simple utility that shows me which device connected to my Airport is using how much of the bandwidth in a simple graphical or stats format without requiring me to be a level 10 Black Belt or Chuck Norris' paternal tooth fairy?

I need to see who is consuming the most bandwidth and limit that user/device. A very simple and dare I say it, legal, moral, and normal wish.

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.2

Relax! It is not offered by Apple or any other fine! Alright. Cease fire! The frustration is that it should be offered these days. With all the brains at their disposal, I don't think it should be that tough a nut to crack. Understand now? I have accepted my fate and will go sob in a jungle for the foreseeable future but they should still introduce some control feature like that.

Ok, perhaps this will tone it down: this issue and the general vibes from Apple combined over the last few years have compelled me to seriously consider moving to Windows.

This issue? What issue is that? The fact that you can't keep your kids from torrenting so much bootlegged crap that your network becomes unusable? The fact that you don't understand how consumer grade networking equipment, or any networking equipment, works or what it does? Or the fact that you have apparently come here not to figure out how to solve a problem you believe you have, but to rant and whine?

You are too angry to be on a public forum. One of the points behind a place like this is that people standing at any level of awareness regarding a subject can come and ask for guidance. If the guidance turns out to be something that is not desired, they can huff and puff and move along. You'll tear a vein or something with that temper, buddy. I hope you don't.

Yes. Something like this is available. Not in the consumer market.

Contact a small business rep at a company like Dell/Sonicwall, UTT, Cisco, etc. Expect to spend at least $500 for a fairly basic manageable broadband router (note that it will probably not include any wireless capabilities. You will still need at least one wireless access point). Prices will go up from there, and you should probably take a class on network management.

A router using gargoyle firmware.. they cost <$100..

The main ones I use now are Netgear WNDR3800.. EOL but easily available on ebay for a few dollars.

Dlink DIR-825 or DIR-835. Watch the versions though.

TP-Link WR1043ND v2.. this is only $50 or so.. maybe cheaper in US.

Flash over to gargoyle. This is just the same as standard firmware upgrade.. pick the correct firmware and download it.. then upgrade your router to it.

It allows control of each IP used in the network.. providing both quota, and throttling.. although not at the same time.. plus excellent QOS.. plus excellent reports of all IP used and their usage.. web sites visited etc.

I cannot give you URL because then Apple delete my posts.. but this is simple to flash to any of the routers I have listed.
