How can I get iPhoto for OS 10.6.8 Computer?

I am wanting to move all my iPhoto pix from the computer that I am preparing to upgrade to OS 10.10 and have tried to move them via flash drive to a computer running 10.6.8, which is where this one is until I upgrade it. I could not find iPhoto on the older computer and tried to bring it over on the flash drive and it copied fine BUT will not install or open. I got some error message. I had already checked the App Store and all I can find is the latest version that requires 10.10 and I cannot get it with the OS 10.6.8. How can I get an iPhoto on the 10.6.8 computer so that I can see what came over?

I also need to know how to find and copy on the drive specific albums. The only albums that show up are a hodgepodge of older albums and none of my newer pictures. I need to know where to find these as I probably am only missing a few albums.

Thanks.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

iPhoto is missing a dynamic library, " iLifeSlideshow.framework"

It should be installed in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iLifeSlideshow.framework

Unfortunately, I do not remember clearly, if this framework had been installed by the SnowLeopard installer or iPhoto, if there was a separate Ilife support installer. Check your installer disk, if there is iLife Support in addition to iPhoto.

reinstalled OS 10.6.3 from the disk in case I had missed iPhoto and then updated (on the second try) back to OS 10.6.8, where I want to stay as the backup computer for non-OS 10.10 apps like Adobe and who knows what else. iPhoto still comes up with the same error message. I am not at all happy about having to buy a disc somewhere to put back on what HAD been there at one time. I had updated this backup computer to OS 10.10 just to see what would happen and what might not work and then (with help from this Apple group) went back to OS 10.6.8 and then discovered that iPhoto is MIA. What can I do short pf paying for a disc that I had no need for at one time? Thanks.

I found iPhoto on a OS 10.3 install disc that most likely came with the computer. I installed iPhoto and get the same results. It is still missing that library item and I even restarted the computer to make sure that this was not an issue. What should I do? Is there any way of getting the missing item via email so that I can drag it into the library where it belings? Thank you.

Update:

I bought an iLife 09 off eBay and installed it on the computer in question. The photos are there but the only way I seem to be able to access them is by opening iWeb, whatever that is. I cannot seem to find the good old iPhoto icon to click open and get the pix the way I do on this computer. The iWeb thing takes up a huge window with the pictures in a "media" frame to the right. I would love to close the iWeb window so that I could see the pix in the big window. Advice on this? Thanks. I am getting closer.

found the iPhoto app in the install discs that came with the computer. I installed it and now it says some error prevented it from opening and created a doc to send to Apple. Why is this not working? How can I upgrade an app that won't even open? Frustrating.

Are you running the same system version as the MacoS X from the Install disks? If not, you may need to install iPhoto updates from the Apple Downloads page:

The disc came with a sticker that said to update to 10.5. something after installing. I already am running 10.6.8 and let the updater take care of updating. I am now at the state last mentioned with wanting to get full windows of pictures as happens on this computer. Thanks.

I was running the iWeb app and the photos were in the media area and I tried to click on the iPhoto Library icon and now I get THIS. I tried rebooting and it still says the same thing everytime. I am not impressed with iWeb as just wanted iPhoto as I have on the other computer. What do I need to do? Thanks.User uploaded file

I am wondering if clicking on the iPhoto icon produced this problem and if I should delete the icon and the iPhoto library, all brought over to this computer via a flash drive. Then should I reinstall iLife? Would that hopefully solve the problem? If my photos are THEN mia, could I re download from the thumb drive?

The bigger question is, where is iPhoto with this iWeb thing? It HAD shown my albums, etc. in the media to the right but I could get them to enlarge as the massive photo window takes up 80% of the space. What procedure(s) should be done to fix this?

Thank you.

I am really stuck and this is why I am always reluctant to upgrade ANYTHING. Should I delete the iLife 09 install and try it again? Should I dump the iPhoto items I brought over from the other computer and re copy them? I am not sure how to go. The iLife install HAD shown me my iPhoto library in a side box ("media"?) but now I get this error message after having tried to click directly on an iPhoto icon. Please help. Thank you.

OK, I trashed the iPhoto item that was on the thumb drive, re installed ILife, and recopied the iPhoto from the thumb drive. I now am back to seeing the iPhoto and my pictures in the "media" window to the side. The question now is, how to get full images as I used to do with iPhoto. Instead the main part of the screen says "My Photos" and an option for slideshows. How can I edit my photos? On the other computer I could just click on the iPhoto app in the dock and do it. Now all I have in the dock is iWeb. I appreciate any information and help I can get as this is most perplexing. Thank you.
