Slideshows in the new photos app

Hi Guys!

I have MBP 15", Early 2011, 10.10.2 Yosemite OSx and I use iPhoto as the default photo app. I have Inquiry about it with the coming update for Yosemite 10.10.3 and the replacement with photos app.

I am wondering wether there will be possibility t create slideshows just like iphoto.

Thanks

To delete a slideshow completely Control (right) - click on it in the sidebar and select Delete Project in the contextual menu:

Is it best to edit as much as possible in albums? I seem to recall completely losing photos if deleted in projects.

I've had no issues with editing in the slideshow itself in iPhoto. Don't see the edit option in the Photos slideshow mode so it'll have to be done in the album.

That could only happen, if you already deleted the photos from the library, and all that was left of the photos were the previews in the project. Projects are no containers for photos. They just use the photos stored in the library. Only you may be seeing the photos still on the pages of a book or a calendar, long after the photos have been deleted from the library, because the book pages may not be updated immediately, if you do not edit the book.

Does anyone here know if Apple will be releasing more themes for the Photos app for the slideshows? I feel like iPhoto had more control and themes for sildeshows and Photos feel like Apple doing Apple things and saying "You have less options to make life easy and we are making everything automated" And I kind of prefer it where I had a bit more control over photo arrangement or at the least, having more themes.

Can I add more themes that are out there, or get the themes from iPhoto? Otherwise - Im hoping Apple releases a few more (and a bit more control.)

You are in the slideshow window, right. And you don't see the buttons at the far right hand edge?

To change the timing click on the stopwatch icon:

The Custom slider is for the total duration of the slideshow if there's no music.

The Play Selection For: is to set the play time for each individual slide. If that's unchecked then the playtime for each slide will be determined by the total play time under the Custom slider, i.e total time divided by the number of slides.

OK so not sure if anyone else if having the same issues when creating a slide show.

When I add music and amend the running time to 'Fit to Music' and export, the final 30 seconds have no sound or music. Alternatively, if I add music and then try and manually 'custom' change the time it just reverts to the default speed, never allowing me to amend the time so never fits with the music.

I've tried everything and its driving me crazy. Has anyone else experienced or know of a work around so the music fits in time with the slideshow?

If it helps I'm using the latest MacBook version 10.10.3

Thanks,

I upgraded to Yosemite on all of my computers. iPhoto had several themes that were dropped in Photos, more specifically 'Places' which worked great for me as I travel a lot. I spent a lot of time building attractive travel slide shows using the 'Places' theme. All that work got lost by moving to Yosemite/Photos!!! In addition, the older versions of iPhoto won't run under Yosemite, and if I try to upgrade to the last iPhoto version (which runs under Yosemite), the upgrade is not available anymore.

Personally, I liked to work with iPhoto and Aperture, which is not supported either. From my perspective, Photos is a step backward!!

It would be great if Apple would at least provide the last version of iPhoto in the App Store, which would leave us with a choice!!! Or warn iPhoto users.
