If you have Photos on an iPad, it will give you a general idea what Photos on a Mac will be like.

I have a number of slideshows from iPhoto that use a variety of themes, and I'm worried that upgrading to Photos App will break them if those themes aren't included in the new app. Does anyone know if they will all transfer over smoothly or not?

Duplicate your iPhoto Library and name the duplicate PHOTOS.photolibrary. Use the PHOTOS library to migrate to Photos. Then you'll still have the iPhoto library intact and able to be used. If the themes are different in Photos or don't migrate properly you can continue to use iPhoto.

The new Photos app in 10.10.3 seems a little half-baked.

1) If you try play the Slideshow, choose Vintage Prints and you'll realise that the images in the slideshow becomes pixelated after a while. This is despite the fact that I'm using a 2014 MBP-Retina with 8GB RAM.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I don't get the pixelation issue. I don't have a Retina display so maybe it's a graphic card issue. It that the only theme that gives you pixelation? Try creating a new slideshow with different photos and test that theme again.

Photo Edges does not seem to be a released theme.

The iPhoto themes of snapshots, scrapbook, photo mobile, holiday mobile, shatter, and places have also been eliminated. The last is particularly unfortunate in that it wa the only practical wat to integrate mapes into a slideshow

Tell Apple what additional features you want in Photos via both http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html and http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html since they don't have a feedback page for Photos as yet.

I have created a slideshow in the new Photos 1.0 and it quits unexpectedly every time I try to export. Any word on this issue or a work around?

Launch Photos with the Command+Option keys held down and repair the library. Try exporting the slideshow again.

Thanks for the response. I repaired the libraries to no avail. I guess I will try reinstalling Photos and start the slideshow from the beginning. Seems there are quite a few quirks with this launch.

Well, I've deleted Photos 1.0 and reinstalled Yosemite and have the same issues. It seems there is an error when processing the export that Photos "quits unexpectedly". Hopefully there is an update soon to fix these issues!

I am organizing a slide show in Photos. I will settle for a classic theme, tho I was under the impression you can create your own customized theme. Help function makes it look like I can at least add my own iTunes, and I tried, but nothing happens.
