Clean Install (for selling) Requires My Apple ID?? I wanted it CLEAN!

I erased the drive of a computer I am selling, and am now going to install a fresh copy of mountain lion. I am using a bootable USB someone made at the office. Everything is going smooth and I am able to install from the USB, but now it's asking me for my Apple ID to verify that I am deemed worthy of installing the OS. I I thought the point of erasing the drive before a sale was to clear out any traces of my ID and password history.... 😕

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

You need to use the computer's original disks instead of that thumbdrive.

I think you're making it much more complicated than it has to be.

Don't buy anything from eBay; most sellers don't have a clue what they're selling and you aren't going to save any money. Simply phone Apple using the phone number that appears in your Contact Us link below right. Once you speak to a human being explain that you need a replacement System Install DVD. The hardest part about that will be waiting on hold and explaining what you need, but use those exact words: I need a replacement System Install DVD for my iMac.

You will need its serial number and a form of payment. It's not expensive. Once you get the DVD you will be in position to configure your Mac the way it's supposed to be configured for sale. It's not difficult at all.
