iPhoto deleted photos after import

Just a few minutes ago, I plugged my camera into my computer and selected "Import Photos" when the option appeared. I waited as the photos imported, and when they were done I ejected the camera. My iPhoto closed by itself, but I thought nothing of it, cause it usually does that. I opened the iPhoto and scrolled through my library and the photos are not there. I then went under "About this mac" to see if the memory the photos had taken had cleared, and it hasn't, so I'm thinking the photos most be there somehow.

Sadly I said the camera should delete the imported photos when I was asked, so they aren't on there.

Please help 😕

Hi! I know it has been a while since you helped them out, but I seem to be having a similar situation. I uploaded a bunch of photos and videos taken on my DSLR onto my computer and also selected the delete after import option. My iphoto started acting very weird during import so I did a hard restart. When I started again, I began to import the photos that had not been uploaded. I never got them fully loaded at all. There was an import error thing so I restarted again. Then all the photos were gone off of my computer and camera. I already tried to rebuild the library and nothing has changed. I'm so upset, as these were the photos from my sister and my trip to Japan *crying*

If you ahven't used the card since you can try recover them for there with an app like MediaRecover or Picture Rescue

I tried Media Recover, but it is asking that I buy it. Is this a scam or is it actually going to get the job done?

It's not a scam. I have used both apps with success.

You can scan the card with the App. It will tell you what's recoverable. But actual recovery requires a purchase. There are no free recovery utilities.

Ok good to know! So odd that this is something that happens with regularity...

I am on a trip and do not have a ton of time to do the recovery now. Is there a time limit to when I can get the files back? Also, is it ok to use the SD card in the meantime? And, what is the likelihood of this happening again?

You have forever to recover unless you write additional photos to the SD card - so no you can not use in the the meantime
