Tivo, Smart TV and Apple TV

I am new to Tivo. I can get the Apple TV to work, except for audio. It will only play the audio coming from the channel on the TV via the Tivo. Is there a solution?

iPhone 5c, iOS 7.1.2

I wasnt suggesting you add an optical cable, but rather asking if there was already one in use anywhere.

If there is no optical cable involved and you get a picture from the Apple TV but no sound, then I'm thinking it has nothing to do with the TiVo, but rather a setting on the Apple TV. Try adjusting settings > audio & video > audio output, you might also try toggling the Dolby digital setting on/off.

Sorrry rereading, are you saying you get audio from the Tivo when you are watching the Apple TV, is there a sound system involved at all.

Cabel guy came. The Installer had moved the optic cabel from the Apple TV to the Tivo. Repair call Cable guy moved the Optic cable back to the surround sound system an added audio in and out cables (the red and white ones) to the Surround Sound and the Tivo. This fixed the problem.
