Hi PrabuBLR,

Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.

It seems like your iPad Air has not been working since updating to iOS 8.3. I know it can be frustrating to have unexpected issues after an update.

Since you were not able to restore your iPad, the next step to try is putting the device in recovery mode and starting the restore again:

To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off your device and leave it off.
  2. Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
  3. Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
  4. When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.

You can find these steps and more information about recovery mode in this article:

I also had a similar problem on my 6 mo old iPad Air2. After upgrading to iOS 8.3 it never got past flashing the Home screen before restarting the reset after update. It wouldn't restore from my 8.2 iTunes windows backup. I finally was able to obtain the ios 8.2 setup file and use it in iTunes to go back to a "bare" 8.2. Then I was able to apply my 8.2 backup to restore successfully. Somehow the Folks that monitor this site didn't like my solution and deleted my posting with an unflattering comment. I'm waiting to get back home to go to the Apple Store to explain my situation with all the equipment in hand, since I'm still under warranty. I'm nervous about updating my other devices to 8.3 until there is a safe direction to follow. Hope this Helps!

Thank you for the details.

How do you go back to 8.2 bare version - do you mean installing using offline ipsw file - if so have downloaded and tried using RECOVERY mode and DFU mode but not working for me.

If you mean ios8.2 setup file, please can you explain more and where to download it please with instructions.

Thanks you in advance.

best regards

Hi,

I have the same problem with my nearly new iPad. I upgraded to iOS 8.3 and after that the apple logo flashes at least ten times during the reboot process.

Finally it starts working but the apple logo appears again and again randomly, it seems like a reboot, but disappears 5-10 seconds later. It isn't in connection of using any of application on it, and immediately appears every time when I go into the Setup and try to change anything there (for example).

The restore and the recovery didn't help.

I was afraid that my device's broken, but I see now, it was the upgrade what caused the problem. (otherwise so many iPad's broken in same way at nearly same time which is hard to believe.

We are waiting for Apple to fix the problem. Thank you.

Thanks for the details.

In my case apple logo restart always occurring it does not stop. Subsequently read an article, exactly the same problem I am facing.

But I did not connect to other WI FI network other than my home network, but still I had the problem. Ideally Apple must replace my device, due to their security hole in the iOS 8.2 software.

My problem is a bit different I have an iPad Air that blue screens randomly and frequently. I can barely use it. It does not seem to be tied to anything specific. Sometimes I open safari and it blue screens, reboots and the Apple logo comes up and I'm in again. Sometimes I leave it for long periods of time as I can't use it, just to come back to it and see that it has rebooted by it self asking me for my password. I have tried multiple hard resets to no avail. I also did a full restore from within iTunes and then synced back my iCloud backup. But nothing, it's just as before with blue screens and all. I Was looking forward to crushing some bugs with 8.3, instead i am stuck with an unusable iPad. Is all I can do wait for Apple to release an update? Or is there perhaps something I have not thought about?

Any thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated!

Greetings from Sweden.

I actually managed to fix a very similar issue (almost continuous rebooting) with my iPad. I installed iBackupBot, connected the iPad, and had a look at the log as it was crashing. In my case, it turned out that a process called com.apple.datamigrator kept starting and, because some Apple Maps files were corrupted, caused a EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT) resulting in the reboots. I managed to extract these files from another backup (from my iPhone actually) and import them into this backup, also using iBackupBot. I restored this and the iPad now works again as it should.

I took my iPad Air 2 into an Apple Store and consultant led me through the restore as new device, taking 15-20 minutes. I couldn't use any of my backups, since the continual Update Loop was apparently caused by some corruption on the iPad that was imbedded in all previous backups. This iPad was restored initially from my old iPad 1.....I then manually reloaded apps and data....Working fine NOW!!!!

Hi DukeEdgar,

How did you knew which files you had to replace?
I have a similar problem with my iPar Air, I tryied restoring from itunes to factory settings a couple of times and the problem persists. It was hard to restore though, I had to try it several times before it worked.

Last night, when the Ipad was in a rebooting loop I pluged the lightning cable connected to a wall power adapter and the reboot loops started to get longer (1 or 1 and a half minutes) an a blue screen pops up quickly before it go dark again. Now I tried once again to restore but with no luck :/

Any help would be appreciated

Kind regards,
