All folders on my iMac are in alphabetical order, however, when I save an item to a folder they are not. Why?

I have the same problem. It started happening about a week ago. I had not changed anything or updated anything that I had noticed. I have set Finder to sort all by Name, which it does with no problem except when I'm trying to save something. Then the folders/files are alphabetized in reverse order. Cycling through the different display options, coming back to "Names", and then restarting did not help anything. I'm not sure what to try next. At least they are reversed rather than random.
