Unable to login and watch HBO NOW!

I'm attempting to follow the steps in the 'solution' above, but when I get to step 5 and, in the iPad app, attempt to register with the same email address, it tells me "that email has already been taken. Please choose another".

What am I missing? How did you all get around that?

I see this thread is a year old, but I am having trouble watching HBO Now on an older generation Apple TV.

I am having NO PROBLEMS on the new Apple TV, but the old one will not play any HBO Now shows. I get the HBO load in screen, a buffer, then it's out and back to Apple TV menu.

I have found the solutions in this thread to be too risky with passwords, etc. Afraid to try. Anyone else have any ideas how I can get HBO Now to play on an older Apple TV? Thanks

What generation is your older ATV? See Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support

On your ATV 4, you're running a new app from HBO. On the older systems, you're running built-in code written some time ago, so it might not be updated with the latest HBO protocol. Can you find any help on the HBO site?

Not sure if anyone else has said this but I found a very easy fix for it. I went to the HBO Now website and after experiencing the same problems when attempting to log in after only using the Apple TV and iOS app, this was how I fixed it.

1. Enter email used for my iTunes account.

2. Click forgot Password.

3. Enter same email for password reset link.

4. Click link and set new password to one used for iTunes.

Now I can log in online and in the app easily.

This method did not work for me with the current version of iTunes (downloaded from Apple on 23 December 2016, Win10 platform.) That version did not have an options to manage passwords or auto-renewals, only an option to unsubscribe...

What worked instead was to - using HBO Now app for the iPhone (ver6) -

1. Open HBO Now app

2. Go to option to start a free month trial

3. Fill out your information (first/last/email/pw)

Password should probably be different from iTunes password, but email address should be the same

4. Start watching same HBO Now content that you got through iTunes

My issue was- I got the subscription through my Apple TV (3rd gen) and HBO has only my email address. I guess they want a bit more information, but you don't get double-billed when you use the same email address they already have through Apple...

I got this done yesterday after HBO Now customer service helped me sort it out. They seemed to know immediately what the issue was and what to do. So far so good :)

This is like a punishment for subscribing to HBO Now on iTunes instead of through hbonow.com.

This looks a great solution. However, I am trying to sign into HBONOW from an Amazon FireTV - and I'm not sure if this solution is applicable. Do you have any suggestions for another work around?

HBO NOW does not show up in my subscriptions even though I am still subscribed to it.

I also do not know how to cancel HBO NOW.

This is a massively ridiculous amount of steps to solve this problem. everyone involved should be ashamed

I do not see a way to turn off auto renew. The only option I have is to cancel my subscription. Is that what you meant by turing auto renew off?
